It is most interesting to learn
that the contract has been let f» r
the concrete paving from Monmouth
south to the Benton Couny line, a
distance o f about nine miles, and
over which there has been so much
controversy on account o f the route
decided on by the highway commis
sion. It is to be hoped nothing
further w ill retard the progress of
this highway as it would mean much
to the residents ol these parts.

The Basket ball season opened
with a game betwe-n the local boys
team and the Falls City High, on
Friday evening, resulting in a score
o f 16 — 10 in favor o f the visiting
team. The Fall City girls Dam,
however, did not prove equal to the
Airlie team and went down to de
feat, the score being 9 to 5. Next
Friday the boys w ill play the Mon
mouth team.
