Mrs. Galgano studied with Francis Striegel-Burke and coitus very highly recommended as a teacher. It is most interesting to learn that the contract has been let f» r the concrete paving from Monmouth south to the Benton Couny line, a distance o f about nine miles, and over which there has been so much controversy on account o f the route decided on by the highway commis sion. It is to be hoped nothing further w ill retard the progress of this highway as it would mean much to the residents ol these parts. All indications point in the same di rection The best way to get a house in Monmouth at present is to build one Oregon Fir and Hemlock Lumber, Lath, Shingles, Lime, Cement, etc. The Basket ball season opened with a game betwe-n the local boys team and the Falls City High, on Friday evening, resulting in a score o f 16 — 10 in favor o f the visiting team. The Fall City girls Dam, however, did not prove equal to the Airlie team and went down to de feat, the score being 9 to 5. Next Friday the boys w ill play the Mon mouth team. Estimates cheerfully L.
