Give the Old Hen
Chance to Cackle
When a hen cackles it means an egg.

cackles and eggs w ill be few and far between this winter
unless you give your poultry flock proper care and hous
ing.
Poor hen houses, or none at all, are the reasons why
hens do not lay as many eggs as they should.
Before an
honest hen w ill cackle frequen'ly, she has tobe fed right,
properly housed and exercised. You can’ t blame her for

A good poultry house should be dry, well ventilated,
free from draft and should admit plenty o f sunshine.
(It isn’t the cold that injures poultry so much a. damp
ness and drafts. Sunshine is a regular tonic to hens and
means more eggs in winter.)
It is surprising how cheaply a poultry house that pro
vides these essentials can be built.
A well kept poultry
flock w ill soon repay the cost o f building such a house by
making a'substantial increase in the number o f eggs laid
per day.
