Public Library Notes 'Local Time Card
Various files of magazines have
been brought into the reading
room. Save your magazines when
you are through with them, and
bring them to the Library. "A
pleasure shared is a pleasure
doubled," and it is true of books
and magazines as of other things.
A magazine does not depend
upon its date for interest as
newspapers do, and if a magazine
is good one month, it is so an
other, or in six months or ten.
Therefore do not destroy your
magazines, put them where some
one else can have the benefit of
them.
A book, for book lovers, has a
personality, and deserves care
and kind treatment just as much
as any other friend. There is a
printed slip that the Oregon State
Library puts into its books as to
how they should be cared for.
If you do not know how already
read it when you come to the
library.
Dear to the heart of every
youngster who knows it, is the
St. Nicholas magazine. There is
a bound copy in the Library with
the present installment of books,
and this volume contains many
things of interest. "A Boy of a
Thousand Years Ago," is an in
teresting tale for grown-ups as
well as for boys and girls.
The Monmouth Social Club had
their pool tables installed the
latter part of last week and the
club room is now open each even
ing. Dr. H. C. Dunsmore of Inde
pendence is an aspirant to the
position of looking after Polk
County's exhibit at the Panama
Exposition.
