Misses Cooper, Pliltibrand and
Whiteaker, of Independence,
were guests of Miss Mabel John
son Tuesday night and attended
the dance.
Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Brown,
James and Catherine Gentle, Fay
Dunsmore and Mr. Macy, of In
dependence, were in attendance
at the dance at Mulkey's hall
Tuesday night. A fine time was
had.
Mrs. E. Donnelly, who has
been visiting relatives here for
some time, left Saturday of last
week for her home at Joseph,
Oreiron. Her sister, Mrs. Pernie
Johnson, accompanied her as far
as Independence.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Sowash ar
rived here Sunday from Turlock,
California, on a visit to Mrs.
Sowash's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
D. E. Stitt. They expect to re
main until after New Year's day
when they will go to Wendling
where Mr. Sowash has secured
employment.
Mr. Mc Adams, who has been
working in William's'confection
ary, left on the train Sunday

The rural mail carrier, who
goes from this place every morn
ing, siid it was almost impossible
to carry the load which comes
thru the mail,, over the roads
which he travels, this time of
the year.
Mr. Frank Ray and little son,
near Peedee, have been quite ill.
John McBee is building a house
for his hired man to live in.
Mr. Nendel is doing some re
pair work on his old barn. 1
Mr. Thorn took a trip to Airlie
last Saturday.
Doc Butler and Bill McAdams
went hunting last Friday but did
not kill any thing but time.
They are getting along nicely
with our new depot, it being
nearly finished.

Prof. Haley was in Dallas, Fri
day, attending the Principals
Club meeting. He reported a
fine supper.
A number of Airlie people were
at Independence, Thursday, doing
Xmas shopping.
Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Lewis re
turned from Portland, Monday,
where they have been attending
the Stock Show since Friday.
Miss Snedeker was in Dallas
last week for the teachers exam
inations. Miss Edna Conn sub
stituted as primary teacher the
three days she was away.
The Misses Ruby Jones and
Helen Conn spent Wednesday in
Independence.
Mrs. George McGuire, of Al
bany, spent the week end with
her daughter, Miss Lionee, who !
rececived quite a serious injury
from a fall a week ago Sunday.
Mr. J. F. Ulrich attended the
Directors meeting in Dallas, Sat
urday. Mr. Louis Caughey ac
companied him. i
Miss Katie Wienert spent Sun
day with her sister, Mrs. Earl
Brown.
Miss Lillian Lewis has been
quite ill with pleurisy, keeping i
her from school several days. '

The Domestic Art class have
been very busy the last few
weeks preparing Christmas gifts.
The Eighth Grade have finished
some attractive history booklets.
The AirJie Manual Training
class have made a great change
in things at the school house.
They have built three large tables,
which are considered very nice,
and have finished drawing a gate
model in which they aim to finish
making the model of fine wood,
and be able to show people what
they are doing at the Dallas fair
next fall.
The pupils of the High School
appreciate very much the new
labratory apparatus which the
district has provided them. It
includes apparatus for Chemistry,
Physics and Agriculture experi
ments.
