    EVERYBODY'S DOIM
There's still somebody left to look after your wants.
Monmouth,
Local and Personal
Miss Carlotta Crowley returned .
home Wednesday from a visit to j
the coast at Newport.
B. F. Whiteaker received aj
very severe stroke of paralysis i
while at Independence last Mon-1
day.
Eph Young and wife, of Mc-"
Nary Station, and Messrs. Pal- j
mer and Pierce, of Salem, re-'
turned Monday from a visit to j
Newport. J
Mrs. Erickson and daughter,
Iela, arrived here, from Hood
River, Wednesday evening to I
take up their residence in their
new house on Broad street.
E. Pinkerton was a Salem
visitor Wednesday. He left here
yesterday, with his family, for
Ashland. Mr. Pinkerton will
1 teach school at Cisna Station this
winter.
The Herald is in need of
ready cash and, hence, will send
out statements to subscribers
who are in arrears, and we will
esteem it a favor if these state
ments receive prompt attention.
The price of the Herald is small,
yet if a couple of hundred per
sons hand in a year's subscrip
tion it amounts to a nice little
sum to us and helps keep the
paper alive. We would also ap
preciate new subscriptions.
Straw Voting.
P. E. Chase is conducting a
straw voting contest at the
Normal Variety Store to deter
mine presidential preference. So
far there have been 44 votes cast
the result being as follows:

11; Roosevelt, 8; Debs, 2; and
Chapin, 1.
The polls will be open for some
time, so call in and register your
choice.
