The Monmouth Hotel cared for
a half dozen drummers who were
here to supply the wants of our
merchants this week.
J. M. Rhodes of Portland was
in town Wednesday looking after
his dog which had got lost some
where while driving stock.
A. D. Elder who purchased
the City meat Market took pos
session a few days ago and is
dispensing meat to the public.
There was a small blaze in the
fruit cannery here, this week,
but it was discovered and put out
before it got any start to speak
of. There was little or no dam
age done.
The hop season is over and the
hops have been cared for, so just

Monroe Mulkey had his house
moved this week, which stands
next the one he resides in near
the college, moving it northward

. Mr. Wells of New Mexico is
here on a visit to his mother-in-
law, Mrs. McCarthy, with a view
to purchasing real estate in this
vicinity.
Since selling his store interest
here Mr. E. Bogert informed us
that it was his intention to go in
to the prune raising business and
give that his attention. With
this view in mind he proposes to
set out a large acreage in fruit
trees this fall.
Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Fogle vis
ited relatives at Luckiamute Sun
day returning to Monmouth on
Tuesday, they got ready and took
their departure for Portland on
Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Fo
gle is suffering from an inflamed
eye and is somewhat in a hurry
to consult an eye specialist. Just
what he will do or whither he
will go from Portland depends
much on conditions he may find
there.
