It is reported that two of our
citizens in the west Bide had a
strenuous time the forepart of
the week. They were trying to
prove how deft they were in
handling themselves after night
and both fell off the walk. One
was carrying a lantern at the
time, however they did not fall
at the same time, but differcnts
nights. The recent rains seem
to have narrowed the walks in
that section of the city.
When a woman has raised a
family and has reached that age
when her tottering steps approach
closely the verge of the grave, it
would seem that she had done
enough to merit the few years of
care necessary to round out her
earthly career in comparative
comfort Yet we find cases
where the reverse is true; where
the mother has reared a family
and has been a good neighbor
and a kind friend, but is now
verging on imbecility, who has
been practically deserted by those
members of her family who could
bestafurd to comfort her de
clining yeare. Such a cose has
come to the attention of the city
council of this place and if those
interested do not attend to the
matter, legal steps will be taken
to see that the aged woman re
ceives the care she is entitled to.
