TO DECIDE BASKETBALL TITLE.
Dallas Scouts and Corvallis Tigers
Tied; Neutral Ground Favored.
The 125-pound basketball champ
ionship of the Willamette valley will
soon be decided if the Dallas Boy
Scouts and the Corvallis Baby Tigers
can decide upon some neutral floor as
the scene of the game.
The local team was dissatisfied with
the referee at Corvallis where they
were defeated by the Tigers 24 to
20. The boys say their teamwork
was entirely overcome by the official 's
whistle; when they would approach
the basket a foul would usually be
called. The 'first ' half ended with
Dallas on the long end but the Cor
vallis quintet nosed out the winner.
That makes the count one and one ,
and both teams are anxious to settle
the championship. The game will
take place in the near future. Wal
ter Craven, Ray Smith, Donald Hayes,
Charlie ' Hayter and George Smith
played for the Scouts.
