Packing Plant Hurries to Supply
Christmas Demand.
To Biipply the local demand for
small Christmas boxes of prunes the
J. K. Armsby company's plant is
packing this week. Although most
of the grocers in town handle a Sa
lem packed prune, one of the stores,
Vassall and Company, has sold only
the local pack, and the prune busi
ness at that store has been a big
item of the Christmas trade. The
proprietors conceived the idea of gst
tiner the prunes ud in neat little box
es and making a flat rate for ship
ping them anywhere in the Unite!
States. As a result it would appear
that nearly half the population of
Dallas has sent prunes for Christmas
gifts. Among the orders taken for
these small packs are some to prac
tically every state in the union. If
there is a state to which customers
haven't consigned prunes Ma-. Vassall
and Mr. Viers failed to recall it. The
boxes in which the prunes are packed
all bear the label of the local packers
and the name of the city and county.
