The Monitor claims to -be in a po sition to state with accuracy that the sawmill which the Falls City Lumber Co. agreed to bund in Independence, and for which a site was donated. will be built without further delay or postponement. Mr. Johnson, who will be in charge of its construction will arrive in Independence within a few days and make the preliminary plans for the mill's erection. Inde pendence people have waited patient ly for several months and hoped far the best and it appears tor a certain ty now that one of its fondest antici pations will soon be a reality. The erection of this mill will be of much gain to the city and give employment to quite a number of men. Wolrk on the Valley and Siletz rail road is progressing very rapidly. One small cut and a fill in is yet to be completed before connections can be made with the 8. P. at Airlie from whence the run can be made into In 'dependence. Brown et YOU ARE HEREBY NOTIFIED, that the City Council of the City of Dallas, Oregon, contemplates the passage of an ordinance requiring the improvement of all those certain streets and parts of streets described as follows, to-wit: All that part of Jefferson Street -lying between the South line of Clay Street and the North line of Ash Street; all that part of Shelfcon Street lying between the South line of Clay Street and the North line of Ash Street; all that part of Ash Street! lying between the East line of Main Street and the West line of Uglow Avenue ; all that part of Lewis Street lying between the South line of Wash ington Street and the North line of Ash Street ; all that part of Clay Street lying between the East line of Lyle St. and the West line of Uglow Avenue; all that part) of Court Street lying between the East line of Jefferson Street and the West line of Lewis Street; all that part of Lewis Street lying between .the North line of Wash ington Street and the South line of Court Street!; all that part of Lyle Street lying between the North line of Washington Street and the South line of Mill Street; all that part of Shelton Street lying between the North line of Washington Street and the South line of Mill Street; all that part of Mill Street lying between the West line of Levens Street and the East line of Hayter Street; all that part of Count Street lying be tween the West line of Levens Street and the East line of Ellis Street; all that part of Clay Street lying be tween the West line of Church and the East line of Fair View Avenue; all that part of Ash Street lying between the West line of Church Street and the East line of Fair View Avenue ; all that part of Hatyer Street lying between the North line of Mill Street and the North line of Maple Street; all that part of Levens Street lying between the South line of Washington Street and the North line of Maple Street all that pant of Church Street lying between the South line of Washington Street and the North line of Maple Street; all that part of Ellis Street lying between the South line of Wash ington Street and the North line of Ash Street; all that part of Academy Street lying between the West line of Sevens Street and the East line of the City Park ; all that part of Clay Street lying between the West line of Fair View Avenue and the East line of Oregon Avenue; and all that part of Academy Street lying be tween the East line of Main Street and the West line of Jefferson Street, all within the limits of the City of Dallas, Oregon. That said improvements shall con sist in general in bringing said streets and parts thereof, hereinabove men tioned and described, to the estab lished grade and graveling them in the center to the width or sixteen (16) feet and to such a depth as will withstand a reasonable amount of travel thereon, and will be done at the time and in the manner to be here after prescribed by such ordinance. That the cost of said improvements shall be assessed to the real proper ty fronting and abutting upon the said streets and parts thereof here inabove mentioned and described. That the City Council of the said City of Dallas, Oregon, will sit in the Council Chamber in said. City on Monday, the 1st day of June, 1914, at the hour of 8 o'clock p. m. of said day, and at said place and time will hear and determine all objections and remonstrances to said proposed improvements, if any there be; and That all owners of real property located within said proposed improve, ment district, and all other persons in interest, may attend at said place and time and show cause, if any they hare, why such improvements should not be made.
