How the People Feel About It.
Week before last Oscar Underwood
went before the people of Alabama
opposing the repeal of free tolls. Hi
won by twenty thousand. Congress-
man U Uyrne ot Air. Wilson's own
stale wont before the people of his
district and supported President Wil
son s position on 1 lie tolls, lie wan
defeated overwhelmingly. In 1912 the
Democrats of that district got 14,875
votes. Mr. 0 'Byrne got only 5,240
voles this time. This is a straw that
has a meaning.
Revenge is the sweetest when you
can get another sucker to foot the
bills.
Did it ever occur to you that in
trying to pull down the other fellow's
house that you were undermining
your own.
It is an undisputed fact that most
editors have a joker up their sleeve
to use if it is necessary to take the
trick. It is not to be relied uion
that because the editor does not print
a sensational article at the time of
its happenii.g, that lie is igMunnt of
the affair.
Falls City School Complimented.
The manual training work in the
Kalis t 'it y High School is proving
quite profitable to the district, as well
as to the boys who are taking the
course. This is shown by a report
made to Superintendent of I'ublie In
struction Churchill by Assistant State
Superintendent Frank K. Welle, who
recently made an official visit to this
school. Falls City is a lumbering
town and the high school boys seem
to take naturally to wood work. Al
though their original equipment con
sisted of only a few hand tools, they
have made 11 work -benches and are
constantly adding to their equipment
with the money which tbey receive
ble for the bank, a book-case and a
cabinet for one of the physicians,
nud they now have an order for an ice
chest and cabinet lor a dentist and a
Writing table and set of chairs for
one of the hotels. The quality of the
work turned out by students is of
such superior quality that the de
mand has increased until they are
now unable to till all of the orders
for their product which come to them.

PILES
and
FISTULA
as used by
DR. TOEL
The Chicago Specialist Now in Dallas
even when sewed up, tearing a small
space apart and infecting the fresh
wound. The ; method of rejecting
piles with carbolated oil and other
similar substances has, in a number
of cases, caused sudden death, the
oil globules getting into the circula
tion and clogging up the blood ves
sels in the lungs. Injecting sub
stances that coagulate the blood into
blood vessels is always dangerous.
Dr. Toel has for 30 years used
method by means of electricity, which
avoids all these dangers.
The pile tumors aae removed in
few minutes without the loss of
drop of .blood. As there are no open
blood vessels and lymphatic vessels
left to become infected there is no
danger of blood poisoning; the pa
tient is not weakened by the loss of
blood as in a knife operation, there
is very seldom any pain after the op
eration, while the operation itself ex
tremely seldom requires chloroform or
ether, which he uses only if the pile
tumors are extremely large and there
are very many of them. ,
The routine treatment for bleeding
piles and flat pile growths as used by
most physicians and surgeons is- to
apply nitric acid in the fuming state
to the growths. Anybody can imag
ine how intense aiid long continued
the pain would be from such a pro
cedure. Aside from this, it is hard
to limit the effects of a fluid caustic
which often, destroys for more than
necessary. I
Dr. Toel eases three different meth
ods as they may Beein best suited to
each case, In the first, he uses the
same method as in pile tumors, de
stjroying the piles instantly. This is
the best suited to cases where there
are only a few well-localized pile
growths. In the second method
where the pile growths are all around
the circumference of the bowel, Di
Toel destroys them by an electric
current of low voltage, or brings
them to absorbtion by a jurrent of
veiiy high voltage. Both these meth
ods are practically painless and are
free from danger of blood poisoning,
while of course there is not the
slightest loss of blood.
The routine trentmeht for fistula
as used by most physicians and sur
geons is either to cut them with
knife or scissors, or to shring an elas
tic ligature, through them and tie
this, thus severing the outside of the
fistula canal by mortification. The
cutting method has the danger of all
such operations of loss of blood and
blood poisoning, also requiring chlo
roform or ether. The elastic ligature
method has the danger of blood pois
oning and ihe intense pain from the
slowly contracting ligature. Asid
from this, both methods will only
lay open the main canal of the fis
tula; but how of tbe'many branches,
blind canals that fork off from the
main canal, and of which Dr. Toel
once found 37 in a case of fistula f
When using cutting instruments
the flow of blood obscures them, they
cannot be found, and in a short time
form a new fistula. In using the
elastic ligature they cannot even be
seen. In both methods the lining of
the fistula is not destroyed and usu
ally forms a new fistula in a short
time.
The electric method as used by Dr.
Toel for 30 years, causes no loss of
blood there is no danger of blood poi
soning, as the blood vessels are all
sealed up during the process of the
operation; the pus forming lining of
the fistula is entirely destroyed and as
there is no blood to obscure the open
ings of the many blind branches fork
ing off from the main canal, these
can all be found and destroyed, one
after the other. There is no pain af
ter the operation, und only in the
most severe cases, where there are
many branches, is it necessary to
use chloroform or ether.
If you have not seen the Dallas
Observer of April 14th and 17th, get
it and read obout Dr. Toel's cure of
cancers and tumors, also April 10th
about treatment f kidney diseases.
Dr. Toel intends to make his meth
ods known throughout the Willamette
Valley after returning from Eastern
Oregon, before opening offices in Port
land. While he will stay for some
time in Dallas, patients who wish to
consult him ought to come without de-1
lav, for while some cases of cancer
allow him to operate at once when the ;
patient consults him, and send the pa
tient home the same day free of his
cancer, in other cases it is necessary
fur the patient to stay under his care
for some time. So better call imme
