NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS
Sealed bids will be received by the
County Clerk of Polk County, Ore
gon at DallaSj in the office of the
Coanty Clerk, on or before 10 a. m.,
April 27th, 1914, for crushing and
delivering rock on public highways;
bids to be based on quarter mile
hauls. Rock to be crushed at quar
ries with county crushers. Separate
bids received on crushing and hauling-
A forfeit of $100.00 to he put up
as guarantee that bidder will enter
contract within 10 days. Amount of
rock required estimated at 9,000
yards.

Mrs. J. L. Thompson of Seattle has
been visiting her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. H. P. Shriver of this city.
Mrs. Nell Hamilton of Hubbard ar
rived in Dallas yesterday to visit Mi's.
H. P. Shriver. She is expected to
remain a week.
Mr. Geo. H. Baxter, former edi
tor of a paper in White Salmon,
Washington, was a Dallas visitor on
Wednesday.
The Falls City Lumber Company
has started work in their big camp
on the Summit and will soon be work
ing a full crew.
D. L. Keyt of Perrydale was in
Dallas one day this week and re
ports farmers busy and prosperous
around Perrydale.
E. F. Reamer, M. D., 401 Masonic
Temple, Salem, limits his practice to
diseases of the eye, ear,, nose and
throat and the fitting of glasses.

Miss Sadie Lynn of Portland, for
merly a Dallas school teacher, is here
on a vacation and is visiting her
relatives and friends.

Felix Comegys of Perrydale, breed
er of Clydesdale horses was a Dallas
visitor this week and reports that he
is surely lucky as another mare-colt
was added to bis herd.
Mr. and Mrs. L. O. Miller, who a
year ago moved her from McPherson
Can., and purchased a farm 2 miles S.
of here are well pleased with Oregon
and never regretted their move.
Mrs. A. L. Young of Portlannd ac
companied Mr. Young to Dallas this
trip nnd is Rpending this week visit
ing Mrs. and Miss Serr, while Mr.
Young covers bis territory in the
vicinity of this city.
A. P. Davis and C. D. Huffman of
La Grande have been in Dallas and
vicinity several days looking at some
of Polk County's famous orchard
land and are favorably impressed wilh
the outlook for Polk County.
Over a dozen dogs were running on
lawns and in places not wanted Wed
nesdav, they were the property of a
traveling show. Why the owner was
not arrested for allowing them to run
without being bold in leach is a ques
tion. Why should a citizen pay
fine for one dog running loose, aiid
a stranger turn a whole pack loose.

crete abutments, across Yamhill riv
er, near Willamina, said County;
and one steel bridge, wilh steel
caissons, across La-Creole River, said
county; gravel, sand and cement to
be furnished by said county. Plans

county clerk of Polk County, Dallas,

answer the complaint filed against
you in the above entitled suit on or
before the expiration of six weeks
from the date of the first publication

plaintiff will apply to the court for
the relief prayed for in his said com

H. Fugitt and his wife, Rose Fugitt,
for the recovery of the sum $332.00,
being balance due and owing plain
