Tooze, Jr., has just announced his intention of be coming a candidate for the nomina tion of state representative on the republican ticket at the coming pri mary election to be held April 19. Having made the declaration, it is expected that he will enter the race with the accustomed vigor which has characterized his official and business career in this city. At the present time, Captain Tooze is city attorney, a position he has held for the past three years. Prior to that he served as city attorney for Falls City for two years, resigning to come here. He is also secretary of the Dallas Commer cial club, and as such is thoroughly conversant with the conditions of the city and county. In addition, he is captain of the local Company G, Third Regiment of the, Oregon Na tional Guard of which he has been an actve booster.
