Specifications
Motor Four (4) cylinder. Cylinders are cast en-bloc.
Cylinder bore is S'i inches; piston stroke is 4 inches.
Motor is rated at twenty (20) horsepower. Vana
dium steel is used in all Ford crank and cam
shafts and connecting- rods.
Three-Point SuspensionEach of the Ford Model
T units is suspended at three points of the chassis
Transmission Special Ford Spur Planetary type.
Magneto Special Ford Design, built in and made
a part of the motor. No brushes, no commuta
tors, no moving wires to cause annoyance on the
Ford Magneto.
Lubrication Combination gravity and splash system
Cooling By Thermo Syphon water system.
Clutch Multiple steel disc, operating in oil.
Valves Extra large, all on right side of motor and
' enclosed by two small steel plates, making their
action absolutely, noiseless.
Control On left side of car. Three foot pedals
control high and low speeds, reverse and brake on
the transmission. Hand lever for neutral and em
ergency brake on left side of car.
Brakes Dual system on all Ford Model T cars. Ser-
vice br.ake operates on the transmission and is con
trolled by foot pedal. Expanding brake in rear
wheel drums serves as emergency brake.
Springs Both front and rear springs are semi-elip-tical
transverse, all made of specially Ford heat
treated Vanadium steel.
Tires Front, 30x3 inches. Rear, 30x3 inches.
Final Drive Ford triangular drive system with all
shafts, universal joint and driving gears enclosed
in dust proof and oil proof housing. Only one uni
versal joint is necessary. The Final Drive of the
Ford Model T is patented in all countries.
Front Axle Of I-beam construction, specially drop
forged from a single ingot of Vanadium steel.
Weight Touring car 1200 lbs; others in proportion.
Wheel Base 100 inches; Standard tread 56 inches;
60 inches for Southern roads where ordered.. All
Ford Model T cars will turn in 28-foot circle.
Equipment All Ford Model T's are sold completely
f - equipped no Ford carsill be sold unequipped.
Standard equipment includes Top, Windshield, Gas
Lamps, Generator, Speedometer, Three Oil
Lamps,. Horn and Kit of Tools.

The law providing for the registra
tion of farm names, which was passed
liy the last legislature seems to have
he-en a popular one In Polk county.
Judging from the number of subur
ban home owners that have taken
advantuge of It to place the protec
tion of legal red tape about the titles
which they have adopted. ' Since the
new law went Into effect last May,
the number of. farms registered has
been 87, . a , complete list of which,

cises of the State Normal school will
begin tomorrow with the baccalaure
ate sermon by Dr. H. Charles Duns-
more. The class day program will be
on Monday, beginning at S t. m.. at
which time the class will present as
a gift to the school. Thorwaldsen'n
"Night and Morning," bas-relief.
The commencement program will
begin at 10:30 Tuesday, when de
grees will be received by the follow

Studies at Recent County Ex
amination Held Here.
At the recent midyear eighth grade
public school examinations held In
this city under the supervision of
County Superintendent H. C. Sey
mour, 65 applicants undertook to an
swer the test questions prepared for
them. According to the results of
the grading of the papers which has
Deen finished, 13 passed and are
therefore entitled to participate in
the graduation exercises to be held
next June. Twenty-four of th num
ber were "conditioned," or passed in
all but two studies, which they will
be allowed to try again this spring.
