All is in readiness for the first per
formanoe of "Queen Esther"
Woodman hall tonight. The perfect
Ion attained by weeks of careful drill

sounds for the curtain's rise, Dallas
lovers of the dramatic will be charm
ed with the preparations for their
entertainment. "Queen Esther,'
though old, Is ever new, and the
manner In which the beautiful sa
crcd opera Is to be presented here
tonight and tomorrow night will sur
pass the usual amateur productions.
The splendor of the ancient Persian
court, the beauty of the oriental cos
tumes, the force and intensity of the
spectacular scenes depicting the trag
Ic moments In the life of the prln
cipal characters will be portrayed
with ability throughout five actB.
Trained Performer.
The principal role of Esther, the
queen, is to be taken by Mrs. W. II.
Dale, of Ilarrlsburg, whose talents
and training especially fit her for the
part. Her support is furnished by
the best singers of the city, compris
Ing a strong cast and a chorus of BO
voices.
An Important feature of the enter
tainment which heretofore has been
unfortunately absent In similar af
fairs here, will be the orohestrial mu
sic which Is to be furnished by
Thome's orchestra of this etly. This
will be the first public appearance
of the new organization, which con
sists or six performers of more than
average proficiency. Although but
recently formed, the members of It
have lieen practicing diligently and
the audience will be delighted with
their progress. The orchestra score
has been especially ordered by tel
egraph from Chicago.

court records and is reminded that
Mordecal had never been rewarded
for saving his life. He consults with
Haman, who thinking further honor

SCENE 3. The Jews rejoice at the

Act V.
SCENE 1. Haman honors Morde
cai and the entire court rejoices.
SCENE 2. The Beggar scorns Ha
man and Zeresh foresees the coming
trouble "if Mordecal belongs to the
race of the despised Jew." They are
again summoned to the Queen's ban
quet.
SCENE 3. The King and Haman
come to the banquet where the Queen
denounces Haman and when the
King learned of his treachery in deal
ing with the Jews orders Haman to
be hanged upon the gallows that he
had prepared for Mordecai. Morde
cai is then raised to the position of
Chief Counsellor of the King and all
Jews and Persians rejoice.
