Entered as second-class matter March 1, 1907, at the post office at Dallas, oregron, under the Act oi con Kress of March . 1879. rAt.LAS, OREGON, JUNE 20, 191t The way to build up tfallat it to pat- ronist Dallas people. NKWSPAPEKS BEST MEDIUM. Another wealthy American manu facturer, whom advertising has made a millionaire, testifies to the value of newspaper publicity. In a speech be fore the Portland Ad. Club Wednes day, S. C. Dobbe, of Atlanta, Georgia declared newspaper advertising to be head ul a larpe medicine concern and the beat of all. Mr. Dobbs Is at the expends a quarter of a million dollars each year with the newspapers of "America. He says he la an advertiser because he knows It is a profitable In vestment. "I am sometimes approached by business men who say they would like to advertise but do not know how," said Mr. Dobbs. 'They want to throw around advertising a sort of mystery unsolvable by the average man. They seem to think that to advertise con vincingly, - they must Indulge In 'stunts' something out of the ordln-rn-y. What a fallacy! Advertising, arter all, is to tell your story simply and directly, the plain, understanda ble, every-dny English, through a medium that goes to the people, whom you want to reach. Take the public into your confidence, . teach them to feel about your merchandise us you yourself feel about it, and when they are la your store be sure that your merchandise has every quality claimed for it. "There are others who say thoy are interested In advertising and believe In It, but honestly think that their business won't admit of it. I can't imagine any -business of a reliable nature that would not profit by the right sort of advertising." You can get no better work done In Oregon than at the Itemizer ofllee. We have the best printing plant on the West Side. Itemizer. This is real news. We had sup posed all along that the best printing plant on the West side was that of the Telephone-Register at McMlnn llle, with Us Mlehle presses, new No. 5 linotype, and a few other $5000 or $10,000 machines that the average country printer longs for, but cannot afford. It appears, however, that we were mistaken, so we shall ask Brother Martin to stop that big Mlehle press long enough to take off his hat to "Flske the Best Printer."
