State Superintendent Makes Public
Information Concerning Eighth
Grade Examinations.
A "BOOSTING" CAMPAIGN.
The "boosting wave," the wave that
has lifted Eugene up to the high water
mark of prosperity, the wavethat has
struck Albany and other valley towns
and is sweeping Salem to the front,
seems likely to strike Dallas also if
the citizens are willing to allow it to
strike and are willing to help in every
way, to float their city clean up onto
its very crest.
A mass meeting of the citizens of
Dallas is to be held in the Courthouse
toulght at 7 o'clock for the purpose of
discussing plans for a campaign of
"community advertising" and every
citizen of Dallas should bo present.
The meeting will be addressed by
W. 13. Wells, general advertising j
agent for the Harriman lines, the
".Sunset man," who will discuss the
main points In the art of scientific
"boosting" and will be glad to do
everything in his power to help the
citizens of Dallas to inaugurate such a
campaign In this city.
The results of scientific boosting of
the resources of a community, in
oiner words, tne results or proper
advertisement, are everywhere mani
fest. Scarcely a town can be named
in the Willamette Valley, that has
made any marked progress during
the past year, but that progress may
be attributed directly to "boosting."
There is no reason why the same
methods should nr.t apply to this city,
because If there is a city or a com
munity in the Willamette Valley that
can advertise and can "deliver the
goods" that city is Dallas. Even
without the agency of advertisement,
without even a regularly organized
commercial club, the growth of this
city during the past year has been
little short of miraculous and the
beneficial result of a well organized
and Bk ii If illy prosecuted advertising
campaign can scarcely ! e estimated.
In the mass meeting tonight is of-
