TRYING SO HARD TO FORGET.
BY DEAN COLLINS.
I'm thinking tonight of dead Issues
Exploited by rae in the past
The fantasies formerly courted
And then to oblivion cast,
They hamper my third frantic effort
To land the election, you bet,
So they must be banished forever
I'm trying so bard to forget.
I'm trying so hard to forget them,
I try, but It seems all la vain.
The skeletons locked in my closet
I earnestly try to restrain.
But though to discard I endeavor
hacn poor, defunct fantasy, yec
They bob up again uninvited
I in trying so nara to forget.
Tbe Bryan who cherished Free Silver
And Government uwnersnip too,
Was not the same Bryan who's striv
ing
To carry the present bluff through ;
Oh, wherefore recall all my errors,
With which in the past you have
met.
Oh, wherefore dig up all those follies
i in trying so nara to lorget.
I'm trying so bard to forget them ;
I've tried, but it seems all in vain.
They cloud my campaign of the present
Ana prove my political oane;
I firmly renounced them, endeavored
To puttnem benind me, anu yet
Those issues still bob up serenely.
1 in trying so hard to forget.

A slight cut on the top of his head
and several severe bruises is all that
Custer Rust, the 8-year-old son of Mr.
and Mrs. R. H. Rust, has to show for
a fall of nearly 30 feet from the second
story of Wyatt's store in Bluck Rock,
Saturday night.
The boy was standing by one of the
windows watching the dance given in
the hall over the store. Suddenly, in
some unaccountable way, he lost his
balance and pitched backward out of
the window, a sheer drop of between
25 and 30 feet with nothing to check
his descent or break the force of his
fall.
He was picked up, stunned by the
fall and bleeding from the cut on bis
head but apparently only slightly
injured. Dr. Starbuck was summoned
from Dallas to attend him but was
unable to reach Bluck Rock until Sun
day morning. When he arrived, the
lad was apparently suffering little
Inconvenience from the results of his
startling adventure.
