for vice-president, In hia recent opeech
of acceptuDce shows up io Its proper
light, that famous question that
William Jennings Bryan chose to
make the keynote of bis outline of
policy and one of the principal bases
for his claim for the votes of the
American peoplo in the November
election. At best, such a question
used as It was by Mr. I3ryan to lead
his hearers to draw an inference
which was unwarranted ; namely, that
the people in order to rule, must needs
cast their ballots in his favr at the
presidential election, was nothing
more nor less than a weapon of dem-
agoguery, and the arraignment
which It has called forth from Mr.
Bherman Is fully justified.
" fjball the people rule?' is declared
by the Democratic platform and can
didate to be the 'overshadowing issue
now under discussion,' " says Mr.
Bherman. "It is no Issue. Surely the
people sffall rule, surely the people
have ruled ; surely the (ople do rule.
No party rules. The party, commis
sioned by the people, is firs ply the

will, and from that party which does

The appliance will do away with
ticket sellers and gate keepers and
other employes at tlifi entrance. It
will be necessary to have a man on

to watch the crowd and tee that no

Formerly It was impossible to count
