It doesn't appear that one position
on the election ballot has any partlcu
lar advantage over another. When
the voters desire any particular candi
date for an office, they seem to have
no difficulty in finding bis name.
The third annual Cherry Fair will
be held in Salem early in July. Polk
county growers captured a large per
centage of the prizes at the Salem
show last year, and will doubtless be
well represented by exhibits again
this year. Every cherry grower in
Oregon should get In line and help
make the show successful.

The case of the Wilson, Mitchell &
Staver Company of Portland, versus
Frank Lynn, of Perrydale, was
brought before Justice Hardy Iiolman
yesterday for bearing. The Portland
flrtq ol aimed that It had sold Mr. Lynn
binder In 1905, and that be refused
payment ;for the machine, while he
claimed tbat It had been sold to blm
under the provision that If It proved
unsatisfactory, no charge would be
made. After brief dollberation the
Jury decided the case In favor of Mr.
Lynn, the defendant.
Herbert Sears Is preparing to build
A fine residence In West Dallas. Ills
stepfather, Mr. Dougan, a prominent
contractor of Tacoma, was In Dallas
this week, and while here ordered the
material for the new building. Mr.
Dougan recently secured the contract
for tb construction of a $l,ooo,ouo
postofflos building In Los Angles

Bon. J. L. Collins Is preparing to

I. N. Davidson, a former resident of
Buena Vista, died suddenly at his
home In North Yakima, Washington,
Tuesday, of heart failure. Ha left
wife, two sons and one daughter. His

Mr. Davidson had many friends In
Polk county, who will be grieved to
learn of his death.
