Registration blanks have been sent to the Notaries Public throughout the county, and electors will be given an opportunity to register either in their home precinct or at the office of the County CJerk. It voters will register promptly, the County CJerk and his deputy will be able to re cord all names as fast as they are sent in, and the county will be eaved the expense of extra clerical help that would have to be em ployed just before election in the event that the voters should be Blow to register. With a first-class system of water-works, an ice factory and a steam laundry in operation, there is no reason why Dallas should not be a cool, clean town this com ing Summer. A GOOD RECORD, The Legislature made a good record at its session just closed. It worked rapidly, proceeded cau tiously and while a ie, measures proposed that failed would have been good legislation, the sum total is along lines inuring to the best interests of the state. Without pledging themselves in advance as to what thev would or would not do, the members consid ered such measures as they lliought were demanded at this time and adjourned, "decently and in order.' They made no mistakes out of which political capital can be made, which there was evidence in Borne quarters it was hoped they would do, effectually corrected the defect they were called together to rectify, filled some new gaps that had appeared and joined their fam- ilH:C for jhriotmns--njthotttr - nnf commotion whatever. It was an unusually inexpensive session, even for the time employed, and there seems no room tor fault-find ing in any quarter. Salem States man. All kinds of cake nt Elggs'. The bill to prohibit the killing of China pheasants until October 1, 1906, was not legally passed at the recent session of the legislature and will not become a law. It was announced that the bill had passed and It was ap proved by the Governor and filed. But in correcting the journal of the houso, the clerks discovered that a mistake had been made In counting the vote, and that in reality the bill was de feated. A Testimonial. Knowing Dr. E. E. Dalla3, 16 , Portland All-Stars, 10. Dallas, 32; Multnoraahs, 5. Dallas, 31 ; Centralia, 9. Dallas, 17 ; Tacoraa, 22. Dallas, 15 ; Seattle, 21. Aftrr .visnir' vWrrifs in Portland and Centralia, the Dallas College basket-ball team went down to defeat in Tacoma Wednesday night not to an overwhelming defeat, how ever, for when time was called at the end of the second half the score of the lads in crimson was only live points less than that of the sturdy sons of the City of Destiny. The game was fast and exciting, but the effects of travel and a hard week's playing were greatly in evidence in'the work of the Dallas team, and their heroic efforts to add another victory to their already long list counted for naught against the skill of their opponents. With throe of their best men sick and dis abled, the college boys were unable to throw into the contest the energy and enthusiasm that won for them the victory from the Portland All-Stars in the first game of the Beries, and as a consequence the Tacoma team won out by a score of 22 to 17. The opening game with the Y. M. C. A. All-Stars, the crack team of the Northwest a team that had never be fore been beaten on its own floor was stubbornly contested from start to finish, and the Portland papers unite in saying that it was the best basket ball game ever seen in the metropolis of Oregon, and that every man on the Dallas team was a star at his position. In this game, Dallas threw six field goals and the All-Stars but one. Dallas threw i foul goals, and the Portland team 8. The Dallas boys clearly outplayed their opponents, and deserved victory at all times. In the game with the Multnomah team, Gates played as substitute for Ford. Those who witnessed the game say he played like a veteran and held his opponent down to business at all times. Of the Centralia game, the Cen tralia correspondent to the Portland Journal says: "It was an easy victory for the college team, most of the game being played on the Dallas end of the gymnasium. The same team work that has won three other games for Dallas this season won this game. The Centralia boys played fast ball but are no match for tho sturdy boys from Webfoot. The playing of Teats, Wilson and Hoffman was line. The work of Shaw as sub-center and Gates as sub-guard was simply great and thepe men showed to tho public fast work and perfect coolness while play ing." tOSf fiEATTiE GAME.""' " The following telephone message was received by the Observer from Manager VanOrsdol at; 10:35 o'clock last night: "Dallas lost tonight's game by a score of 21 to IS." The Dallas'team will arrive home tonight.
