Dufur’s athleticism had given Perrydale trouble all game. Domes told his players it was time to put in the full- court press. “That was something I’ve never really witnessed as a coach,” Domes said. The Pirates began forcing turnover after turnover and taking advantage of the scor- ing chances, capped off by a Cooper Butler basket with 1:15 remaining in the game to put Perrydale up 49-48. Neither team would score Domes and the Pi- rates es- caped with a victory. “It sure made the bus ride home more f u n , ” D o m e s said. Butler finished the game with 20 points and 10 re- bounds. Perrydale also defeated Klickitat 68-49 on Friday. David Domes had 16 points and eight rebounds to lead the Pirates. Perrydale played Country Christian Tuesday after press time and plays at Days Creek Thursday at 6:30 p.m. “Days Creek will be chal- lenging,” Brian Domes said. “They are very athletic. They can be a little out of control sometimes, and that can get you out of your gameplan. T h e Pa n t h e r s defeated Molalla 46- 30 on Thursday, V a l l e y Catholic 57-38 on Mendazona Friday and Hidden Valley 62-43 on Saturday. “We faced three great teams that all do well in their leagues,” coach Julie McDonald said. “We were faced with different chal- lenges from each team that I felt like we executed well against.” Meagan Mendazona had 12 points, nine rebounds and six steals against Molal- la, while Lexy Barba added 11 points and four assists. Elizabeth Chavez added eight points and six steals. Annika Riddell had five points and nine rebounds. Mendazona scored a game-high 19 points against Valley Catholic.
