PORTLAND — Dallas senior
wrestler Tanner Earhart isn’t one
to let his emotions show.
Even he couldn’t help but let
the moment get to him on Satur-
day.
Earhart won an individual state
title in the 160-pound class at the
OSAA 5A state wrestling champi-
onships on Friday and Saturday at
Veterans Memorial Coliseum in
Portland.
“I feel a lot of emotions right
now,” Earhart said after his final
match. “I’m just really happy right
now.”

PORTLAND — Central senior
wrestler David Negrete has ac-
complished a lot throughout his
wrestling career, from winning
multiple district titles to entering
the 5A state wrestling champi-
onships on Friday and Saturday
with a perfect record.
There was one thing he hadn’t
done yet — take a state title.
Negrete can officially cross that
off his list.
Negrete won a state title at 220
pounds on Saturday after a 4-2 deci-
sion over Thurston’s Jackson Casteel
in the championship match.

win of the season in a 9-0
win over the College of
Idaho. She threw a com-
plete game and has a 1.75
ERA so far this season.

PERRYDALE — The out-
come was never in doubt,
but when the clock hit zero,
Perrydale’s boys basketball
team was ready to party like
it was 1983.
The Pirates defeated Pow-
ers 58-43 in the second
round of the OSAA 1A state
basketball playoffs to earn a
