Golf Course, 13935 High-
way 22, Dallas, will host the
Winter Golf Tournament on
Dec. 17.
The 18-hole, three-per-
son scramble begins at 9
a.m. All skill levels are wel-
come.
Prizes will be awarded to
gross and net scores, long
and short drives, long
putts and closest to the

Cost is $45 per player.

GNAC lineman
of the year
MONMOUTH — West-
ern Oregon senior Jeremy
Moore was named the
Great Northwest Athletic
Conference’s Defensive
Lineman of the Year.
Moore ranked second in
the conference in tackles
with 111. He was tied for
fourth with 13.5 tackles-
for-loss.
Moore was also a first
team all-GNAC selection
with junior Paul Revis
(wide receiver and punt re-
turner) and sophomore Bo
Highburger (linebacker).

Wildcats’ offense too much for Central on Saturday

HILLSBORO — With 43
seconds remaining in the
first half, it appeared Central
was poised to enter halftime
tied with No. 2 Wilsonville at
21 after quarterback Peter
Mendazona hit AJ Morales
for a 13-yard touchdown.
The Wildcats had other
ideas.
Wilsonville scored just be-
fore the half to go up 28-21
— the first of 21 unanswered
points the Wildcats scored —
as Wilsonville defeated Cen-
tral 56-34 in the state semifi-
nals on Saturday.
“They executed more than
us, I guess,” senior Marlon
Tuipulotu said. “We had a
good team this year. We
started off slow, but we start-
ed coming together.”
The Central offense found
success in the first half. Men-
dazona threw a 25-yard
touchdown to Marcos Cedillo
and a 13-yard strike to Jack-
son Holstad, but Wilsonville
quarterback Connor Neville
had an answer.
Holstad picked off a
Neville pass to open the sec-
ond half and returned it to
Wilsonville’s 12-yard line.
The Panthers were unable to
score and turned the ball
over on downs. The Wildcats
responded by marching
down the field for a touch-
down to go up 35-21.

Dragons’ rally falls short

HILLSBORO — With three minutes left in
game, Dallas’ football team took over on of-
fense on its 5-yard line. Trailing 10-7 to No. 4
Lebanon, the Dragons hoped it had one last
scoring drive in them.
This time, the late-game magic ran out.
Dallas fell to Lebanon in the semifinals
of the Class 5A state playoffs on Saturday,
bringing an end to a memorable season.
“We fought,” senior quarterback Caed-
mon Blair said. “We fought all season.
Lebanon knew how to play against our of-
fense, and they played really well. I respect
the hell out of them. The way we could
fight, I thought we showed a lot of heart
tonight, and I love my guys to death.”
