Walter Gibson
Oct. 16, 1926 – April 5, 2016
Walter Gibson, 89, of Keiz-
er, died April 5 in Woodburn.
Walt was born in Oakland,
Calif., to Lawrence and Ethel
(Doolittle)
Gibson.
Walt went
to school
in Rich-
m o n d ,
Calif. In
1943, Walt
enlisted in
the Navy,
where he
s p e n t
three years
and nine
months.
In Janu-
ary of 1949, Walt enlisted in
the Air Force. He spent time
in Japan and Korea as a
radar operator and radar
navigator.
Walt retired from the Air
Force at Camp Adair in 1968
as a chief warrant officer
four.
Walt married Billie Louise
Humphrey in 1946. Together
they had five children. They
divorced in 1983. Walt mar-
ried Linda Haskins in 1984.
Walt lived many years in
Polk County. He worked as a
general contractor and also
for the Polk County Housing
Authority.
Walt loved to play golf. At
McNary golf course, Walt
made eight holes in one.

died before he did.
Interment will be Tuesday
at Willamette National
Cemetery.

Robert Lee ‘Bob’
Boswell
June 14, 1931 – April 11, 2016
Robert Lee “Bob” Boswell,
84, of Dallas, died April 11.
He was born to Harry and
Elsie Wayburn Boswell in
Maywood, Calif. The family
moved to Compton, Calif.
Robert
graduated
from Bur-
bank High
School in
1948.
He had
grown a
great love
for Ham
radios and
received a
Ham tick-
et, W6NKI.
Robert
joined the Navy in 1948, and
was stationed in San Diego
at the Naval Hospital in an
E.N.T. Unit as a hospital
corp man.
In 1949, Robert married
Nancy Ann Good. Robert left
the Navy but was only out
for a year before they called
him back in 1953.
He s e r v e d a t C a m p
Pendleton at the Naval Hos-
pital and at the MARS Sta-
tion.
Robert left the Navy and
began working with the Fed-
eral Aviation Administration
in Los Angeles.
Robert and Nancy di-
vorced.
In 1961, Robert married
Lee Otis Hacker.
In 1968, they moved their
family from California to
Seattle, where Robert
worked for the Seattle Cen-
ter Federal Aviation Admin-
istration. Robert’s call sign
was changed to W7LOU. He
was a member of the King
County Reserve Deputies.
In 1976, they moved to
Dallas, where they built their
house.
He was a bee keeper and
began working for the Ore-
gon State Department of
Agriculture in 1978 as a bee
and crop inspector, inspect-
ing corn, walnuts and other
crops. Robert was part of the
Polk County Reser ve
Deputies in 1978 until 1982.
Robert worked as an air
traffic control instructor in
Oklahoma City at the Feder-
al Aviation Administration
Academy and at the air
route traffic control center
in Los Angeles.
He also worked at radio
station KSLM in Salem, and
at channel 22 KECH.
He retired in 1995.
Robert helped found the
R.O.A.D.S. group, Radio Op-
erators Association of Dal-
las, and was the president
for a period of time. Robert
and Lee divorced in 2007,
after which Robert married
Irene Joy Abbott.
Robert is survived by his
wife, Irene; daughters, Mar-
jory, Connie, Lori, Tamara
and stepdaughter Kimberly;
sons, Gary, David, Zachary,
and stepson Timothy; 18
grandchildren; and 12 great-
grandchildren.
Funeral services will be
held Saturday at 11 a.m. at
the Dallas Mortuary Tribute
Center, with interment to
follow at the Dallas Ceme-
tery.
There will be a gathering
to follow at The Majestic.
Memorial contributions are
suggested to the American
Lung Association or the
American Cancer Society in
lieu of flowers.

Ronald James Voth
Aug. 11, 1936 – April 29, 2016
Ronald James Voth, 79, of
Salem, died April 29.
He was born in Dallas to
Albert C. Voth and Minnie
Dyck Voth.
Ron was stricken with
polio at the age of 13 and
had to be in an iron lung for
quite a long while. It affected
his speech and his lungs.
Ron graduated from the
Salem Academy High School
in Salem, and went on to get
his undergraduate degree
from the University of Ore-
gon in 1958.
After working for the Ore-
gon State Public Welfare De-
partment in Salem for a
short while, he went on to
get his master’s degree in so-
cial work from Tulane Uni-
versity in New Orleans.
In 1964, he went to work
as a case worker for family
services in Philadelphia. He
was later appointed as dis-
trict director of the North-
east Office of Family Service.
Upon his return to Ore-
gon, he worked at the
Fairview Training Center
until his retirement.
He is survived by his
brothers, Bill, of Dallas and
Paul, of Tasmania. Brother
Richard died in 1998.
At his request, no service
will be held. Private inurn-
ment will be in the Salt

Jacklynn Teena Lewetag,
23, of Dallas, died May 4.
She graduated from Per-
rydale High School.
Survived by parents, Ken-
neth and Teena Lewetag, of
Dallas; and brother, Zachary

Patrick Cleavland
McGee
July 20, 1933 – April 30, 2016
Patrick Cleavland McGee,
82, died on April 30.
Pat was born to Wallace
and Mildred (Fitzgerald)
McGee in Long Beach, Calif.
Pat graduated from Whittier
High School in 1951. He at-
tended Mt. San Antonio Col-
lege and Western State Col-
lege of Law.
He married Mitzi Jenkins
in the summer of 1961. He
owned a several businesses
in Whittier, Calif., over the
years including nursery,
landscaping and street
sweeping. He later worked
as a maintenance mechanic
until declining health in
1981.
He moved to Astoria in
1983 to manage the John
Day Mini-Mart.
Due to illness, he was
forced to retire in 1997, and
moved to Polk County to be
with family.
Pat could always be found
with a crossword puzzle
nearby and a good joke or
story for anyone that would
lend an ear.

Garfield and other funnies,
teaching his woodworking
skills, showing off his Bud-
weiser mug collection and a
good pastrami sandwich.
He is survived by his
daughters, Ginger Perez
(Raymond), Corrine Bauser-
man (Michael), Christine
McGee, and Michelle Car-
mona (David); son, Ronald
Gaynor (Laura); siblings
Wallace “Mike” McGee and
Joleen Harshman (Jim); 16
grandchildren; and 20 great-
grandchildren.
Brother David McGee
died in July 2015.
Services will be private.

Dorothy Elizabeth
Kent
Dec. 12, 1924 – May 3, 2016
Dorothy Elizabeth Kent,
91, of Dallas, formerly of
Salem, died May 3, in Dallas.
She was
born in
Hood River
to Oregon
Ross and
Martha
Francis
( J u n e )
Cooper.
She graduated from Hood
River High School in 1942.
She worked in the office of a
fruit company there.
She was proud of having
been named “Miss Apple
Blossom” and made the
cover of National Geograph-
ic.
Dorothy married Calvin
(Bud) Vern Kent on Feb. 14,
1952, in Salem. She was a
stay-at-home mother.
They enjoyed camping to-
gether.
She was a talented home-
maker who excelled at gar-
dening and sewing, cooking
and baking; and designed
the floor plan and interior
finishes for their two custom
homes in Salem.
She became an artist later
in life. She was active in
whichever local church they
attended; most recently as a
library volunteer at Dallas
Christian and Missionary Al-
liance Church.
Dorothy worked briefly
for the Boy Scouts of Ameri-
ca in Salem. Bud and
Dorothy lived in Salem for
most of their lives. In retire-
ment, they moved to Dallas
where daughter Diane and
her family lived.
Bud and Dorothy enjoyed
traveling, camping and fish-
ing, and traveled through
the American Southwest
and into Mexico; to Canada
and all through the Pacific
Northwest.
Her husband, Calvin, and
stepson Jimmy Hildman
died before she did.
Survived by daughters,
Lori Ritchie, Diane (Don)
Andrews, and Janet (Jay)

JoAnn Haynes, of Nashville,
Tenn.; nine grandchildren;
11 great-grandchildren;
brother, Donald, of The
Dalles; and extended family.
Burial was in Salem at
Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

Alliance Church, 775 E. El-

Beverly A. (Brooks)
Tricker
March 20, 1955 – May 6, 2016
Beverly Ann Tricker, 61, of
Independence, died Friday.
She was born in Salem to
Richard and Pauline
(Rambo)
Brooks.
She ex-
celled at
art and
singing be-
fore gradu-
ating from
Central
High School in 1973.
After graduation, Bev met
her future husband and
constant companion while
waitressing at The Blue Gar-
den. She and Mark Tricker
were married on Jan. 17,
1974, in Independence.
They lived in Aberdeen, Ho-
quiam, Prineville, Bend,
Dallas, and Reno before re-
turning to Monmouth and
Independence in 2006.
Bev improved the wellbe-
ing of others, whether as a
candy striper, pharmacy
technician, or in housekeep-
ing at Renown Hospital in
Reno and Samaritan Hospi-
tal in Corvallis.
Bev took every opportuni-
ty to celebrate occasions
(particularly Halloween)
with laughter, treats, and
fun, but she was equally at
home enjoying a new televi-
sion show, contemporary
music, or classic movie
re¬runs into the wee hours.
Survived by husband
Mark Tricker, of Independ-
ence; daughter, Melanie
(Ryan) Harper, of Seattle;
one grandson; brother,
Randy (Lynnette) Brooks, of
Prineville; sister, Cindy
(Rodney) Weston, of Dallas;
sister, Ramona Best, of Jef-
ferson; and extended family.

David E. Hamm

David E. Hamm, 95, of
Dallas, died April 9 in Dallas.
He was born in Chicago to
Henry D. Hamm and Susan
Fast Hamm.
David
graduated
from Dallas
H i g h
School and
went on to
graduate
from the
Bible Insti-
tute of Los Angeles (now
BIOLA University).
He married Evelyn D. Rus-
sell in Corvallis on June 27,
1943. Together they were mis-
sionaries for 26 years in Chile.
He was the founder and
pastor for three years of the
Keizer Community Church.
David retired as a pastor
with the Evangelical Free
Church.
He was a member of the
Evangelical Bible Church in
Dallas. He enjoyed wood-
working and cooking, espe-
cially waffles.
He was preceded in death
by his wife, Evelyn on Feb. 2,
2013.
Survivors include his son,
Leroy Hamm, of Carm-
ichael, Calif.; two grandchil-
dren; and four great-grand-
children.
Memorial service was
held. Private interment was
at Dallas Cemetery.
