MONMOUTH — Lock your cars and don’t leave anything
of value in the vehicle, especially out in the open.
That’s the message from Monmouth Police Department
after officers arrested three juveniles for a string of 27 thefts
from cars that happened between Feb. 19 and 21.
Because of their age, the suspects’ names will not be re-
leased, said Sgt. Kim Dorn.
“Many of these thefts were unreported, but two of the ju-
veniles told Detective Kevin Renfro where they had broken
into cars,” she said. “A good amount of the property was re-
covered, including items such as iPods, laptops and air soft
guns. Most of the vehicles were not locked.”
Most of the thefts occurred on the east side of Pacific Av-
enue, both in the northeast and southeast section of Mon-
mouth, Dorn said.
To avoid being a victim of theft, it is important to lock your
doors and not leave valuable items in plain sight. Also, park
in well-lit areas, if possible. Avoid concealment from larger
vehicles, fences or foliage.
Dorn said when shopping, place items in your trunk when
you return to your vehicle and not at your next stop.
“Be alert and aware of your surroundings and people in
your neighborhood,” Dorn said. “If there is suspicious activi-
ty or person, let the police know.”
If your vehicle is damaged or broken in to — even if you
forgot to lock it up — report it to the local police department
or sheriff’s office.
“We encourage people to make a report even if nothing is
missing,” Dorn said.

one-act musical set in the French Antilles archipelago in the Caribbean Sea.
The show includes elements of the Romeo and Juliet story and elements of
the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale "The Little Mermaid." It concerns a
peasant girl on a tropical island who uses the power of love to bring together
people of different social classes. Times are 7 pm for Friday, March 4 -Thurs-
day, March 10 - Friday, March 11- Saturday, March 12. Times 2 pm and 7 pm
for Saturday, March 5. $10 per ticket. Box office sales open 30 minutes

March 5 — Bicycle Cycling Safety Education Course. With the help of a
grant from the Monmouth Parks Recreation Board, Veal Bikes Plus will be
offering a Cycling Safety Education Course held at the bicycle shop located

those 16 and over •12:00 PM for youth under the age of 16. The first 10
people in each session will receive a head and tail light or free tune up
(excluding parts). No cost.
