Allan Donald
Trupka
Jan. 22, 1947 – June 16, 2015
Allan Trupka, 68, of Silver-
ton died June 16.
He was born in Brecken-
ridge, Minn., to Sylvester
and Louisa
( B e s t )
Trupka.
Allan
grew up in
D a l l a s
where he
met Patty
Fagan.
They were married on Nov.
17, 1979. They moved to Sil-
verton, where they raised
their family.
Allan worked in agricul-
ture with dairy feed and
grass seed for Land-O-Lakes
and Cenex for a time, and
for Wilco for many, many
years.
He was a true “Mopar
Man” who loved muscle
cars, especially the Ply-
mouth Road Runner. Allan
also enjoyed fishing, old
Western movies, yard work,
and was an avid knife collec-
tor. He always put his family
first and had a wonderful
sense of humor.
He was preceded in death
by his son, Doug Trupka,
who died in 2012, and
brothers, Sonny, Butch and
Jim.
Survivors include his wife,
Patty; sons, Lance and Sean
(Eliana) Trupka; daughter,
Stacy Trupka; and one
granddaughter.
Celebration of Allan’s life
was Monday at Unger Fu-
neral Chapel of Silverton.

Kenneth Wayne
Hiscock
Sept. 10, 1946 – June 16, 2015
Kenneth Wayne Hiscock,
68, of Dallas died June 16 in
Dallas.
He was born in Albany,
Calif., to Harlind Ralph and
Athea M. Jones Hiscock.
Kenneth married Marcia
Blair on March 21, 2000, in
Dallas. They lived in Arizona
for a time before returning
to Dallas.
He worked at Praegitzer
Industries as a fabricator for
many years.
He was a member of The
Church Of Jesus Christ Of
Latter-day Saints.
Survivors include his wife,
Marcia; sisters, Carol Ellis
and Virginia McDaniel;
brother, Don; and extended
family.
Memorial service was Fri-
day at The Church Of Jesus
Christ Of Latter-day Saints
in Dallas.

Nov. 8, 1943 – June 22, 2015
Edward A. Moskal Jr., 71,
of Dallas died June 22 in
Dallas.
He was born in Roseburg
to Edward Adlbert Sr. and
Wilma Ann LaRaut Moskal.
As a child Ed lived in
Kansas
and New
Jersey be-
fore re-
turning to
Salem. He
was
a
graduate
of South
Salem High School. He went
on to attend Willamette Uni-
versity and graduated from
Oregon College of Education
(Western Oregon University)
in Monmouth with a degree
in history and psychology.
Ed worked in the cannery
for some years and decided
that if he didn’t get out, he
would always be there. With
enthusiasm, he owned and
operated Corbett Construc-
tion, Corbett Real Estate and
Celebrity Homes. For a time,
he owned a couple of car
lots.
He married Norma
Thomas Sharp in Reno, Nev.,
on May 16, 1995. Together,
they worked for Century 21
Real Estate and had their
own business, Sharp Realty
in Detroit, until 2007.
Ed was a workaholic, but
did enjoy fishing, golf and
Star Trek. He was a member
of the Liberty Christian
Church and a past member
of the Illahe Hills Country
Club, both in Salem.
Survivors include his wife,
Norma of Dallas; daughters,
Sherry Ann (Scott) Isenberg
of Des Moines, Wash., and
Jessica L. (Darren) Walls of
Dallas; son, Jay R. (Trina)
Moskal of Dallas; mother,
Wilma Moskal of Turner;
brother, Jim (Paula) Moskal
of Salem; sisters, Angie

Katherine Classen, 98, a
Dallas resident for 59 years,
died June 17.
She was born in a Ger-
man-speaking Mennonite
farming community near
Meade, Kan., to Peter F. and
Sara J. Rempel.
In 1937, she married an-
other member of that com-
munity, Martin F. Classen,
and they farmed in the
Meade area until 1945.
To prepare for Christian
ministry, Martin enrolled at
Grace Bible Institute in
Omaha, Neb. The family
moved to Burns, Kan., and
Wolf Point, Mont., where he
pastored Mennonite
churches.
In 1956, they moved with
their family of five children
to Dallas,
w h e r e
three of
her sisters
and two
brothers
lived.
Kather-
ine assist-
ed her husband in his 24-
year career as a traveling
representative in the film di-
vision of the Billy Graham
Evangelistic Association. He
died in 2001.
She was an avid quilter,
making hundreds of quilts
for family members, friends
and the annual Mennonite
Central Committee relief
auction.
In about 1959, Katherine
joined the Grace Communi-
ty Church (formerly Grace
Mennonite Church), where
she taught Sunday school,
was a Cub Scout leader, was
active in Priscilla Circle and
served on many projects.
Survivors include her
daughters, Shirley Funk of
Bakersfield, Calif., and
Geraldine (Larry) Bliven of
Dallas; sons, Virgil (Jeanette)
of Clovis, Calif., Jim
(Dorothy) of Council Bluffs,
Iowa, and Allan (Joleen) of
Portland; nine grandchil-
dren; and 24 great-grand-
children.

Susan Kay Niggli
Nov. 10, 1943 – May 30, 2015
Susan Kay Niggli, 71, of
Salem died May 30 after a
brief battle with cancer.
She was born in Hoskins
to Fred and Minnie Niggli.
The family moved to Dal-
las, where she graduated
from Dallas High School in
1962. Susan joined the Navy
and was
stationed
in Florida.
She re-
turned to
Oregon,
eventually
settling in
Sa l e m ,
where she
worked at
the Oregon
State Li-
brar y for
more than
30 years and particularly en-
joyed working in the geneal-
ogy department.
Genealogy was a passion
of Susan’s, and she was able
to trace the family lineage
back several hundred years
to colonial America on one
side, and to Switzerland on
the other. Susan was an ac-
tive member of the
Willamette Valley Genealogi-
cal Society.
Susan loved spending
time at the Oregon Coast
and with family and friends.
She enjoyed a variety of
music, counting Johnny
Cash as one of her favorites.
She was preceded in
death by siblings, Norma
Jean, Nadine, Richard, Kath-
leen Baker and Dorothy
Bernard.
Survivors include siblings,
Patricia Kuhns, John Niggli,
Sharon (Richard) Payne,
Karen Van Bibber, Larry
(Rosemar y) Niggli and
Nancy Burks; and a large ex-
tended family.
At her request, no service
will be held. A family gather-
ing will take place later this
summer at one of Susan’s fa-
vorite places near Hoskins.

Arley Roscoe Spain II, 67,
of Dallas died June 13 in
Salem.
He was born in Medford
to Arley Roscoe Spain and
Rita Mae Cutler Spain.

four grandchildren; and ex-
tended family.
Private celebration of life
will be held. Interment will
be at the Eagle Point Nation-
al Cemetery.

Simon Harland
Peter Schulz
June 15, 1980 – June 12, 2015
Simon Schulz, 34, of Inde-
pendence, a fun-loving,
jokester of a young man,
died June 12 in Independ-
ence.
He was born in Chula
Vista, Calif., and spent the
first four years of his life in
San Diego County before
moving to Dallas. Simon at-
tended Dallas schools, Inde-
pendence schools and Poya-
ma School for children with
disabilities. Simon graduat-
ed in 1998 from Dallas High
School. While in high school,
Simon was a member of
FFA, which
he was very
proud of.
He was
awarded
the highest
award at
the Polk
County
Fair for his FFA garden pro-
duce his senior year.
Simon entered services
with Partnerships In Com-
munity Living just prior to
turning 18. He had lived in
various settings in Dallas,
Monmouth and Independ-
ence. He worked hard at
gaining independent living
skills and moved into his
own place with minimal
staffing where he resided
until his death.
He was big on holidays
and always decorated a tree
in his home and often went
to the family home for the
decorating party. He collect-
ed blue glass and accumulat-
ed quite a collection. Simon
loved Christmas, his girl-
friend of several years, Robin,
his animals, camping, crab-
bing, floating down rivers,
setting off fireworks, doing
tie dye, garage sales, and was
a self-appointed “King of the
Barbecue.” Simon participat-
ed in Special Olympics of
Polk County and SPARC, a
self-advocacy group coordi-
nated through PCL. He had
also attended self-advocacy
conferences in Washington,
D.C., and Hawaii.
Simon loved deeply and
his dream was to marry
Robin, owning his own
home and becoming inde-
pendent enough that he
could leave services.
Survivors include his fa-
ther, Keith M. Schulz of
Kalama, Wash.; mother,
Theresa “Teri” Boyd (Arnold)
and her partner, Heather
Blodgett of Independence;
brothers, Keith Schulz of
Phoenix, Ariz., Joseph Potter
of Independence, Larry
Schulz of Port Hueneme,
Calif., and John Schulz of
Elko, Nev.; sister, Amanda
Frost (partner Scott Seitz) of
Keizer; and a large extended
family.
A barbecue tie dye cele-
bration of life will be held at
his mothers’ home on Sev-
enth Street in Independ-
ence, July 18 at 4 p.m., end-
ing with a firework display
after dark.

George Robson
Oct. 26, 1923 – June 26, 2015
George Robson, 91, of
Dallas died Friday.
He was born in Grand
Ronde to George and Lula
(Robinette)
Robson.
In grade
school, he
met
a
y o u n g
woman by
the name
of Barbara
Ross. They
would later
marr y on
Feb. 15,
1945, in
Vancouver,
Wash., following his return
home from serving during
World War II in the Army.
Barbara died in 2011.
The family settled for a
time in Beaverton and Cedar
Mills before coming to the
Dallas area. While in the
Beaverton area, George
worked as a foreman and
smelter for Oregon Steel Mill
before retiring in 1990, after
the death of his son Kelly in
1989. His other son Steven
died in 2010.
During George’s younger
years, he enjoyed working
on cars and flying a plane he
purchased. He was very ad-
venturous and lived life on
the edge at times. When he
retired, he enjoyed spending
time traveling with his wife
in the RV and loving his
many cats, raccoons and
wild animals that would
seek refuge on the farm. He
also enjoyed spending time
with his current wife, Violet
(Earl) Robson. They married
in 2013.
Survivors include his wife,

Thomson; five grandchil-
dren; and three great-grand-
children.
Service is today (Wednes-
day) at 11 a.m. at Bollman
Funeral Home in Dallas. In-
terment will be at Dallas
Cemetery.

Doug was born in Monte Vista, Col-
orado to Ken and Josephine Sohn.
They moved to Metolius in Central
Oregon, where he spent most of his
childhood and graduated from Madras
High School in 1962. He attended Ore-
gon College of Education for a year be-
fore his older brother Gary convinced
him to join the Air Force, where he was
stationed in Grand Forks, ND. While
at college he met his future wife Marilyn
and they exchanged letters while he was in the military and
were eventually married in 1966. After Doug's military serv-
ice he finished his degree at OCE, graduating in 1971. They
lived in Monmouth for 45 years, raising a son and daughter.
For the last few years they have lived in Salem to be closer
to their daughter and her family.
Doug taught school for 7 years before changing careers and
becoming a glazier, which he did for over 20 years. When
not working Doug loved to spend time hunting and being
outdoors, gardening, traveling and spending time with his
family. He was a loving father and husband and was very
kind hearted, always willing to help out a friend or neighbor.
Doug is survived by his wife of 49 years Marilyn; his son
Alan (Jenny), his daughter Cindy (Dean), his brothers Gary
(Norma) and Ray (Sheila), 5 grandchildren, and 7 nieces and
nephews.
A Celebration of Life for Doug Sohn will be held on Sat-
urday, July 11th at 2:00 p.m. at the Christian and Missionary
Alliance Church in Dallas, OR. Donations in his memory
may be made to the Shriners Hospital of Portland. Assisting
the family is Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
