“business process solutions.” In addition to the soon-to-be open

Roseburg, Grants Pass, Coos Bay, Veneta and Eugene.
The finishing touches are being added to the remodeling of

THE SHOW WILL GO ON
Falls City Alliance saves Third of July festivities
By Jolene Guzman
The Itemizer-Observer
FALLS CITY — The show
must go on — and it will on
July 3 in Falls City.
Last-minute changes
threatened Falls City’s Third
of July cel-
ebration,
but several
organiza-
tions have
stepped up
to take
over pieces
of
the
event so it
Ungricht
can go for-
ward as planned.
Planning to use the event
as a fundraiser, the Falls City
Boosters opted not to pro-
ceed with organizing the an-
nual tradition earlier this
month after learning it could
not charge admission to the
event without incurring
more liability.
However, Falls City Mayor
Terry Ungricht and city lead-
ers were able to pull together
a meeting June 17 to sort out
Community
issues to keep July 3 on track.
Ungricht said new organiza-
tions simply took up where
the booster club left off.
This year, some of the fes-
tivities will be in a different
location from years past.
Vendors — now coordinated
by the Falls City Alliance —
will set up on North Main
Street between Second and
Third streets at 11 a.m. and
remain open until 9 p.m.
Before, vendors set up in
the Upper Park, but there
have been a number of inci-
dent involving people com-
ing and going from the park,
and congestion in general,
that prompted a change.
“The booster club, they
had talked to the fire depart-
ment and felt that this is a
safer way,” Ungricht said.
“We are trying to find that
avenue of safety and con-
venience.”
Also, the city will be hold-
ing a “Citywide Garage Sale”
on July 3. Maps will be avail-
able at Frink’s General Store
on North Main Street.
The annual parade —
starting on North Main
Street at Falls City High
School will begin at 4 p.m.
Parade participants are
asked to line up near the
high school at 3 p.m.
Live music will begin at 5
p.m. at the Falls City Fire
Hall. At 6 p.m. Mitchell
Street will close in prepara-
tion for the fireworks show
at dusk. Volunteer firefight-
ers will begin collecting do-
nations at this time to help
defray the cost of putting on
the show.
The Falls City Booster
Club still will coordinate
parking in the old mill lot,
charging $5 per car for park-
ing — not admission to the
event. A shuttle will run be-
tween the lot and Upper
Park where the fireworks dis-
play will take place.
For more information
about participating in the pa-
rade: City Hall, 503-787-3631.
