MONMOUTH — Central senior
Taylor Knauss was sure of one thing
on Thursday afternoon. After com-
peting in the finals of the girls long
jump, she was ready to focus on her
main event — the triple jump.
After scratching on her first two
long jump attempts, Knauss just
wanted to get a mark on record in her
third and final attempt.
“I thought I’d do OK in the long
jump and be in the middle of the
pack,” Knauss said. “I didn’t have any
hope after I
scratched my first
Peterson
two attempts. I
thought oh
well, let’s
just bring
it and see
what hap-
pens.”
Few could have
imagined what hap-
pened next.
Prior to the Mid-
Willamette Confer-
ence track and field
championships,
Knauss’ best leap was
15 feet, 4¾ inches.

Tapa-
sa returned to the court for
the Panthers during the
2014-15 season.
She missed her junior
year after tearing her ACL,
MCL and PCL.
“My dad helped push me
and told me if you work
hard enough, you’ll get
there,” Tapasa said. “That’s
what I did, I worked harder
and it paid off.”
Tapasa earned all-Mid-
Willamette
Conference
honorable mention.
“I want to thank my
coaches, my dad for being
my role model and all my
teammates who have
pushed me,” Tapasa said.
“It’s been a great experi-
ence to be a Panther.”

junior Sarah Clark couldn’t
help but feel a little down
before the Tri-River Confer-

herself the most to the

Taylor Price, who set a
