and has performed national-
ly on Showtime’s Comedy

unique observational take to
the stage. Also scheduled to

Xing is hosting an “interna-
tional coffee hour” Friday at
3:30 p.m. at Monmouth Pub-
lic Library, 168 S. Ecols St.

The Monmouth Interna-
tional Coffee Hour is in-
spired by various similar
events held at other univer-
sities in Oregon. Xing, the
event organizer, is from Tai-
wan and just moved to Mon-
mouth a few months ago.
She has always enjoyed
meeting new people, espe-
cially people from different
countries and cultures.

fundraiser on tap
Monmouth Senior Center
will host its monthly all-you-
can-eat community break-
fast fundraiser on Saturday
from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Cost is a suggested dona-
tion of $6 per person, $3 for
children under 12. The meal
includes scrambled eggs,
link sausage, pancakes, bis-
cuits and gravy, and orange
juice and coffee.
Proceeds benefit the
Monmouth Senior Center
building expansion fund.

B-3 organ is coming to
Monmouth.
Dr. Lonnie Smith will let
his fingers and feet do the
talking when he and the
Dr. Lonnie Smith Trio per-
form Friday night at Rice
Auditorium as part of the
Western Oregon Universi-
ty Smith Fine Arts Series.
Smith, 72, is an unparal-
leled musician, composer,
performer and recording
artist. Considered an au-
thentic master and guru of
the Hammond B-3 organ
for more than five decades,
Smith has been featured
on more than 70 albums
and has recorded and per-
formed with a virtual
“who’s who” of the greatest
jazz, blues and R&B giants
in the music industry.
