Dragon Run registration now open DALLAS — Registration for the eighth Annual Dragon Run on April 11 is now open. The event features a variety of distances ranging from a quar- ter mile to 5-kilometer runs available. The runs begin at 10 a.m. Cost is $20 for the 5-kilometer race and $15 for all other dis- tances. There is a group discount of $3 per runner for groups of four or more. Avgi earns all-district team honors MONMOUTH — Western Oregon junior Andy Avgi was named to the National Associ- ation of Basketball Coaches Division II All-Dis- trict Team on Monday. The Great Northwest Athletic Conference’s Player of the Year was named to the first team. Avgi helped lead WOU’s men’s basketball program to the NCAA Div. II west region after winning the regular season GNAC champi- Avgi onship. Avgi averaged a team-high 18.5 points per game. He also led the wolves in field goal percentage after shooting 61.2 percent from the field, and in total offensive rebounds with 70. Central wins middle school title BEND — Central’s eighth-grade girls basketball team won the eighth grade Gold Middle School Championship, held March 7- 8. The team went 1-1 in pool play before defeating Sheldon 39- 32 in the semifinals and Churchill 33-32 in the championship game. Kaitlyn Dorn, Elizabeth Chavez, Sina Tapasa, Amelia Cantu, Annika Riddell, Ellah Neville, Natya Gonzalez, Katelyn Trevino and Faith Berry made up Central’s roster.
