Ronald Lee
Blessing
Nov. 22, 1942 – March 13, 2015
Ronald Lee Blessing, 72,
of Dallas died Friday in
Salem.
He was born in Joliet, Ill.,
to Lewis James Blessing and
Matilda Franke-Blessing.
Ron grew up in Joliet and
graduated from Joliet High.
He continued his education
at the Caterpillar Tractor En-
gineer Program and Cedar
Rapids Community College.
Ron married his wife of 50
years, Gerrie K. Gorman, on

worked for
Caterpillar
Tractor in Joliet as a welding
and design engineer. He was
an engineering supervisor at
Harnischfeger Cranes and
Koehring Manufacturing.
The family settled in Dallas
in 1973, where Ron was a su-
pervisor at Towmotor in
Dallas and instructed weld-
ing at Chemeketa Commu-
nity College. In 1980, he in-
vented the beveled edge ma-
chine and counter top de-
sign. He owned and operat-
ed Beveled Edge Machine
Inc. from 1980 until he re-
tired in 2002. He went on to
invent and secure many
patents and designs
throughout the growth of his
business. Throughout the
years, Ron was an investor
and developer of various
commercial real estate proj-
ects in Polk County.
Ron enjoyed traveling,
hunting, fishing, playing black-
jack, and time with his family.
He was preceded in death
by his brothers, Lewis J.
Blessing Jr. and Harold Cle-
venger, and sister, Carol
(Richard) Clift.
Survivors include his wife,
Gerrie; daughters, Mickey Jo
(Scott) Reynolds, Terrie Jo
(Michael) McDonald, Toni Jo
(Paul) Blessing-Heronemus;
brother, Gary (Toni) Bless-
ing; sister, Janice Russell;
three grandchildren; and ex-
tended family.
Celebration of Ron’s life is
Friday at 11 a.m. at the
Evangelical Bible Church in
Dallas. Private family grave-
side service will be at Salt
Creek Cemetery. Visitation is
today ( Wednesday) and
Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6
p.m. in Dallas Mortuary
Tribute Center.

Sherrie R. Reeves
Dec. 2, 1949 – March 12, 2015
Sherrie R. Reeves, 65, of
Dallas died Thursday in
Salem due to complications
from chemotherapy.
She was born in Corvallis
to Doris and Darrel White.
She grew up in Corvallis
and married Jerry Reeves on
March 30, 1968. They had
two children and lived in
Dallas until moving to Mon-
terrey, Mexico, in 1987. She
then moved to Ohio for a
short time and then to
Houston. She returned to
Dallas in 1996 following her
divorce.
Sherrie worked as a legal
secretary for the law office of
Shetterly, Irick and Ozias for
more than 30 years. While
there she “trained” many
new lawyers and law clerks
on how the legal system
works in real life.
She was extremely close
to her sister and best friend,
Sharon Messal. They took a
cruise together, and made
many other great memories
together.
Sherrie enjoyed dining
out, reading, keeping a
beautiful, colorful yard, and
cooking. Every humming-
bird in Dallas knew they
could count on a good feed-
ing at her feeder, no matter
the time of year. She enjoyed
hosting both Thanksgiving
and Christmas dinners for
the entire family.
She was preceded in death
by sister, Sharon Messal.
Survivors include her
sons, Terry (Alison) Reeves
and Larry Reeves; stepfather,
Russ DeMarce; and two
grandchildren.
Memorial will be had at a
later date.

Betty Harne-Pugh
Aug. 30, 1935 – March 13, 2015
Betty Harne-Pugh, 79, of
Dallas died Friday.
She was born in Nimrod,
Minn., to Paul and Hilda
Westra.
Betty married her high
school sweetheart, Roger
Harne (deceased) in June of
1953 in
Wolf Point,
Mont. To-
gether they

three chil-
dren in
Mon tan a.

worked for the Montana City
School District in Montana
City and Whites Electric in
Great Falls, Mont.
Shortly after Roger's
death, Betty moved from
Great Falls to Dallas to be
closer to family.
Betty was a longtime
member of the Church of
Christ. She loved spending
time with her family, partici-
pating in Bible study, cook-
ing and crafts.
She married Everett Pugh
in Sparks, Nev., on Aug. 10,
1999, and they continued to
reside in Dallas. They en-
joyed traveling until her
health declined.
Survivors include her hus-
band, Everett Pugh; sisters,
Sharon (Bob) Rust, Pat (Nor-
man) Buck; daughters, Debra
(Tom) Filson of Dallas, Paula
(Art) Fleming of Sparks; son,
Rick Harne of Redmond,
Wash.; stepdaughter, Debby
(Jack) Federico; seven grand-
children; and nine great-
grandchildren.
Memorial service was
Tuesday at Dallas Mortuary
Tribute Center.

Peggy Sue Stoner
Freeman
May 19, 1933 – March 7, 2015
Peggy Sue Stoner Free-
man, 81, of Monmouth died
March 7 of heart failure.
She was born to Clarence
and Opal Polk Stoner in
Keene, Texas.
Peggy met Bruce Keeler
Freeman while living in
Alameda, Calif., and they were
married on Aug. 27, 1952. She
attended Golden State Col-
lege. Peggy worked for many
years as a clerk for the Civil
Division of the Stanislaus
County Sheriff’s Department
in Modesto, Calif.
Peggy enjoyed being a
member of the Coast Guard
Auxiliary along with Bruce,
and she held a number of
staff positions. She was a
member of the Beta Sigma
Phi sorority and Adah Chap-
ter Order of the Eastern Star.
She enjoyed house boating
with Bruce, attending her
children’s school plays and
midget ice hockey games,
board games, crafts, reading,
and jigsaw puzzles. She al-
ways had animals and loved
her dogs like family.
She is preceded in death
by her husband, Bruce.
Survivors include her
daughter, Liz Freeman
Floyd; son, Scott Freeman;
three grandchildren; and
one great-grandson.
