12A Polk County Itemizer-Observer • March 11, 2015 Polk County Sports Dragons: Coach happy with year Continued from Page 10A “I like the attitude al- re a d y,” S c h w a r t z s a i d . “Three or four of the under- classmen asked if the junior varsity coach was going to open the gym on Sunday so they could work on their game. We will be a different team next year. We won’t have the length that we’ve had and won’t be as post ori- ented. It will be fun to see the younger kids coming up.” While the Dragons failed to reach the quarterfinals, Dallas reached the state’s final 16 teams for the first time since the 1999-2000 season, Schwartz said, an accomplishment that the players should be proud of. And Schwartz hopes the team will build off of this season’s success in the com- ing years. “They accomplished what no other Dallas boys team had done in the past 15 years,” Schwartz said. “They worked their tails off and they were driven. To see the players mature was reward- ing.” SCOREBOARD BOYS BASKETBALL CLASS 5A MID-WILLAMETTE Team League All Silverton 13-1 19-4 Corvallis 10-4 16-9 Dallas 8-6 13-12 Crescent Valley 8-6 11-15 Central 7-7 14-11 Lebanon 6-8 13-12 South Albany 2-12 5-19 Woodburn 2-12 3-19 Tuesday, March 3 Results Class 5A State Play-In Round Dallas 84, Eagle Point 59 Central 51, Crater 41 Crescent Valley 56, Ashland 43 Churchill 62, Lebanon 38 Sandy 46, Hermiston 42 La Salle 75, Hood River Valley 70 Parkrose 102, Ridgeview 86 Summit 69, Hillsboro 59 DALLAS 84, EAGLE POINT 59 March 3 Box Score EAGLE POINT (59) — Hunter 18, Bell 10, DeVore 8, Quintero 6, Shelton 5, Sowell 5, Bennett 3, Reyes-Serna 2, Cas- tro 2, Moreau, Shop, Edwards, Morgan.
