Pouring the Pinot
The work of two local
painters will be on display at
the Dallas Public Library, 950
Main St., through March. The
two artists, Karen Rouzard
and Charlene Metzler, are
both displaying a selection of
their watercolor paintings.
Rouzard took art classes at
Laguna Beach School of Art
and Design in California and
continued taking classes after
moving to Oregon. She now
teaches watercolor painting.

had her artwork displayed at
the Polk County Fair and the
Oregon State Fair.

Painting workshop
offered in Falls City
A “Dragonfly Painting
Workshop” will take place
Wednesday (today) in Falls
City. The class will run from
7 to 9 p.m. and be held at
The Boondocks, 318 N. Main
St., Falls City.
Cost of the workshop is
$30 per person. Fee includes
professional instruction, a
16-inch-by-20-inch canvas,
painting supplies, appetizers
and a beverage. No experi-
ence is needed.

sale set at church

Church is holding a base-
ment rummage sale on Fri-
day and Saturday at the

Spring book sale
slated for weekend
Friends of the Independ-
ence Public Library is hold-
ing its annual spring book
sale Friday and Saturday.
The sale will take place
both days from 10 a.m. to 4
p.m. at the old library build-
ing, 311 Monmouth St., In-
dependence.
Hardback books will sell
for $1 each, while paper-
backs are priced at 50 cents

Oregon State students from the OSU Enactus Club brought Wine-Down Downtown
to Independence and Monmouth Saturday afternoon. About 20 people crowded into
2EZ Cafe in Independence, where they picked up wine glasses and a map and were
treated to an appetizer with a taste of wine before heading out to nine other stops in
the two towns. The event brought a total of 90 people into the downtown areas.

Monthly breakfast
fundraiser on tap
Monmouth Senior Center
will host its monthly all-you-
can-eat community break-
fast fundraiser on Saturday
from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Cost is a suggested dona-
tion of $6 per person, $3 for
children under 12. The meal
includes scrambled eggs,
link sausage, pancakes, bis-
cuits and gravy, and orange
juice and coffee.
Proceeds benefit the Mon-
mouth Senior Center build-
ing expansion fund. The cen-
ter is located at 180 S. Warren
St.

Driver safety class
slated for Saturday
A one-day AARP Defen-
sive Driving Safety Class will
be offered Saturday at Dallas
Retirement Village.
The class meets from 9
a.m. to 4 p.m. at DRV, 377

defensive driving, driving
techniques and discuss new
laws recently passed.

Tuesday discussion
on brain, memory
Rob Winningham, a pro-
fessor at Western Oregon Uni-
versity, will conduct a presen-
tation on the brain and mem-
ory ability Tuesday at Volun-
teer Hall in Monmouth.
