EDITOR
POLICE REPORT
Plant employees should
respect neighborhood
This is an open letter to Forest
River and its employees:
We live near your facility in Dal-
las and on a daily basis have to deal
with your employees taking all the
parking spaces in front of our
home. We are allowed one vehicle
behind our home and rely on hav-
ing space on the street for the other
vehicle. They block garbage cans
from being picked up, and the trash
from their snacks and lunches is lit-
tered around the vehicles.
I have repeatedly called Forest
River, asking if they could please
address this situation. The employ-
ees don’t seem to get it. It would be
nice if they could provide an addi-
tional parking lot for them to use
instead. Then, they could litter on
Forest River’s property instead of
the public streets in front of our
home.
We are not impressed with the
vehicles they drive or how loud
they can squeal their tires when
they leave for lunch or at the end of
their shift. It is something we have
been dealing with for more than
2½ years and don’t see it ending. I
know it’s not all of them, but it’s a
big number of them. I have provid-
ed vehicle descriptions and plate
numbers to no avail.
It seems like the city or Forest
River could do something about
the situation.

Firefighters from Polk Fire District No. 1 work to remove the top of a Chevy
Blazer to extricate the passenger and driver after an accident on Saturday.
Collision closes Hwy. 99W
Itemizer-Observer staff report
MONMOUTH — A Chevy Blazer over-
turned on Highway 99W at Powell Street in
Monmouth on Saturday when its driver,
Moira Bronson, ran the stop sign at Powell.
The accident closed Highway 99W at
about 12:20 p.m. for about an hour.
“It sounds a lot worse than it was,
thank goodness,” said Sgt. Kim Dorn of
Monmouth Police Department.
Bronson, 41, of Dallas was traveling
eastbound on Powell and did not stop at
the stop sign. Connie Dowdy, 50, of Eu-
gene was traveling north on Highway
99W in a Chevy Impala and collided with
the Blazer, causing it to roll onto its side.
Polk County Fire District No. 1 re-
sponded to extricate the drivers from
both vehicles, as well as the passenger in
the Chevy Blazer, Jennifer Green, 41, of
Dallas. The roof of the Blazer had to be
cut off to access Green and Bronson.
Dallas Fire Department assisted with
an ambulance.
“You don’t see that in the city with no
speed involved,” said Polk Fire Sgt. Mike
Rusher.
The speed limit at that intersection is 30
mph on Highway 99W and 25 on Powell
Street. Dorn said she isn’t quite sure how a
collision at those speeds would cause an
SUV to roll onto its side, noting there was
a lot of water on the road at the time.
Green and Bronson were transported
to Salem Hospital with non-life-threat-
ening injuries. Dowdy was transported
to Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis,
also with non-life-threatening injuries.
Bronson was cited for failure to obey a
traffic control device.
Information for the police re-
port comes from law enforce-
ment agencies. Not all calls for
service are included. The status
of incidents reported may
change after further investiga-
tion. Individuals arrested or sus-
pected of crimes are considered
innocent until proven guilty.
