A t B aker C ity .— A horrible acci dent occurred at Baker Oity, last Thursday evening. William Easter- wood, a mill employe, in that oity, tried to board a switch engine oa it was moving through the yard, when he missed his footing and fell nnder the engine. As it dragged the un fortunate raan along, one foot was caught in a switch-frog and his leg was torn from his body at the hip. He died in u few minutes after he 1 war taken from under the engine. Ho was a married man and his wife fainted when the news of the terrible accident was broken to her. A t E ugene .— Last week a little boy fell from a load of hay, near Eugene, upon the tines of a pitch- fork, whick penetrated the little fel lows abdomen, two of them going clear through his body, coming out at his back. The father who was with him pulled out the fork und hastily took him to town, where the surgeons jierforined an operation upon him and stitched up the perfo rated intestines. A t last accounts the little fellow was resting easily. A t W ashington , D. C.— Samuel Gompers, the noted President of the American Federation of Labor, fell from the platform of a moving car, in Washington City, last Thursday, and received severe injuries, which may prove fatal. U ttu been employed at the Saginaw Mills for soma time, had the misfortune to reoeivo a broken leg as the result of a peculiar ucci lent at Mill No 1 last Saturday. He was standing near a donkey engine, which was hauling logs by meuns of a long wire cable, when the strain became so great that tl.e cable parted, atid one end of it struck him below the knee breaking both bones in two places.
