After the regular resolutions had been adopted the following was un animously adopted by the club : “Whereas, It has been publicly announced that the Hon. L. T. The convention will consist of 272 delegates, ou the busis of one delegate for each 175 votes, or major fraction thereof, cast for Governor Chamberlain iu 1!)02, and one delegate at large for each i ounty. This arrangement will give Lane county 15, instead of 14 dele gates as formerly. These matter* were decided by the Democratic State Central Com mittee, which met at the Imjierial hotel Monday. There was a good attendance and a number of promi nent Democrats besides the mem bers of the committee were present. Among these were Governor Cham berlain and Hou. A. E. Reames of Jacksonville. There is manifestly a stroug dis position among the members of the State Central Committee to look with favor upon the pioposed con cert of action among the Paeifio coast delegates to the national con vention. Some distrust is felt by those who believe that the combina tion is proposed in the interest of Hearst’s candidacy for the presiden tial Domination, but they disclaim any intention to commit the Pacific coast states to his cause by the pro posed combination. It is stated on good authority that Alex Sweek will be chosen as Demo cratic State Committeeman to suc ceed Sam White, Sweek being Chamberlain’s choice. It is generally understood that Governor Chamberlain will be chairman of the Oregon delegation to the national convention. Lost in th e M ountains.
