They report a fine trip but much better roads in Oregon than in Washington. Mr. und Mrs. Benston vis ited this section four years ago and find many changes but are much pleased with this valley. They will visit their son, F. F. Benston, and his family and other friends here and thor oughly explore the country around Cot tage Grove und Saginaw'. Air. Neat recently saw a whole fam ily o f coons— mother and four well- grown children— up in the woods above he Burgess home. Ilul Gibler and Cora Taplin indulged in a spirited argument over a suck of small outs at tbe Taplin home on Wed nesday. Mrs. Jones und her daughter, Miss Alice, of Cottage Grove were visitors at the AlcKinney home on Saturday. Mr. Gibeons has some very fine celery grown on his little farm here. It will compare very favorably with any of the California celery ever bought here but he is having a desparate fight with the gophers as they have found it and have left everything else for it. L. Pinkerton and Jesse Turner. Mrs. Geo. Alleinan o f the Grove vis ited her sister, Mrs. F. M. Chapman, last week. Mrs. Minnie Hiltbrau and daughter, Miss Vale, o f Independence spent the week at the R. H. Kenady home. Mrs. Hiltibrun is a niece of Mrs. Kenady. Miss Blanche Lindstroin left Monday for Portland to remain for an indefi nite time. Earl Lee o f Isadora was a visit*] here last week. y . K. Jones of Lacrosse, Wash., spent from Friday until Sunday with his sis ter, Mrs. G. A. Miller. It has been 25 years since Mrs. Miller saw her brother last. A party given at the Pinkerton home .Saturday evening was enjoyed by all in attendance. Robinson and daughter Helene left Wednesday for Grants Pass, where they will spend the remainder of the summer. They made the trip in their Ford. Lee Thomason left Wednesday for Roseburg, where he will work in the pear orchards near there. Robert Alton o f Portland was shak ing hands with old friends in Dorena Wednesday. > eta Pitcher of Disston visited with friends and relatives in Dorena a few days o f last week. Grandma Pindergrass spent last week with Grandma Bales. Bertha Kirk spent a few days o f last week in Cottage Grove. Aliss Doris England left Tuesday for an extended visit at Walker and Eu gene. Mrs. Ada Jones of Cottnge Grove spent Thursday night at the home of her niece, Mrs. B. F. McCollum. As Airs. John Kirk and daughter, Mrs. J. E. Holstrom, were bringing the car out from the Grove Thursday even ing, Airs. Kirk in trying to pass a team around the curve this side of the Spray Dairy, ran into the bank and tipped the machine on one side. No one was hurt but the car was damaged some. Myrtle Teeters and Ernest AlcKibben o f Cottnge Grove spent Friday night at the home of their uncle, Chas. Teeters, Wm. Gidding o f Cottage Grove, Ar thur Bales and Glen Jennings spent last week on a fishing trip up Row River. Chas. l’ lank went to town Saturday.
