Seuator W ood's bill, providing
a method for creating new co u n
ties, passed the House, which
indefinitely post|xm cd a bill by
Eggleston on th e sam e subject.
T he Eggleston bill was objected
to because it was virtually a copy
of the iuiative bill rejected by the
people in the N ovem ber election.
It left the question of creating new
counties entirely to th e voters in
the territory of w hich the proposed
county w as to consist. T he Wood
bill requires a vote of AS per ceut
of the residents of the county from
which territory is taken and 65 per

the proposed new county before
the new county asked for can be
established legally.
T his will

a new county.
