L. W oodard transferred to J . II. C ham bers of this citv 20 , 000,000 feet of fir tim- tim ber located five m iles south of town, the sawm ill at I.atham with a capacity of 40,000 per day, and thirty-three acres of mill site land, th e consideration being approxi m ately $50,000. Mr. C ham bers will com m ence logging operations at once, and carry on the work on an extensive scale. T he persons controlling the w atet right on the Coast Fork river have entered into an agreem ent not to interfere with sluicing while the tim ber is being conveyed to the m ill. Mr. W ood ard h as recently constructed a dam on th e river, an d has a new log ging road into th e tim ber, m aking it possible to conveniently and economically h an d le the logs. T he mill has been idle duriug the past few m onths on account of con structing the dam and logging road, hut will resum e w ithiu a few d a y s aud run to its fullest capacity. Mr. C ham bers has large tim ber holdings iu the im m ediate neigh borhood of his newly acquired tim ber, an d eveutually this will also lie sawed at th is m ill. T h e laud occupied by the milt is valuable not only for the purpose for w hich it is being used, but aa a power site aud the term inus of a prospective railroad up th e Coast Fork river, w hich, in all probabili ty, will he constructed w ithin a com paratively short time.
