THE WATER QUESTION.
On Wednesday the legal voters
of Cottage Grove will be called up
on to vote on the question of auth
orizing the common council to issue
aud sell bonds not to exceed $100,-
000, these bonds to run 25 years
and to bear interest at 5 per cent,
the purpose of issuing these bonds
being the construction of a pipe
line from Laug Creek to Cottage
Grove to secure an increased mu-
niciple water supply. The plan
seems not only a worthy but a per
fectly feasible and practical one,
from the fact that the city has out
grown its present water facilities
and supply, and a town without an
ample supply of good, pure water
is seriously handicapped in its
growth and development, while on
the other hand an abundance of
pure water is a great attraction to
home builders, and the “ home
beautiful,” or “ city beautiful”
cannot become a reality without
plenty of good pure water.
Cottage Grove is in sore need of
more watei. Lang Creek affords
an adequate supply o f pure cold
water from a fountainhead of per
petual snow, for not only the pres
ent needs, but au ample supply for
a generation to come. It is the
only available supply of pure cold
water adequate to the present aud
future requirements of Cottage
Grove and there remains but one
alternative for every thoughtful,
loyal, public spirited citizen, aud
that is the voting of the proposed
water bonds on Wednesday. The
Leader looks upon this proposition
as one of vital importance to Cot
tage Grove and one upon which
hinges, to a considerable degree,
the future wellfare of our citizens
as well as the growth and develop
meut of Cottage Grove. Vote for
Lang Creek water.
A LIBERAL PROPOSITION.
C. M. Shinn of the local light
and power company, upon his re
turn home from a trip to Portland
recently, informed the Leader he ob

tered with appropriate matter per
taining to their particular advan

facing their respective depots. Mr.
Shinn, and Mr. Kem also, com
mend this publicity innovation and
