FUEL FOR 1000-MILE
B y W. II. R o w a n .
AEROPLANE FLIGHT
New York, Aug. 1.2.— Before
sailing for Europe today, Orville
Wright the aviator announced that
he had perfected a device for car
rying fuel which would make it
possible to drive his aeroplane 1000
miles without stopping.
He said that he was confident
that the aeroplane would be used
very soon for carrying mails, as it
would be able to exceed in swift
ness and directness of route the
fastest trains that could Ire oper
ated on railroads. He said the
aeroplane for use for carrying
I freight was still in the distant
future.
With the new fuel carrying de
vice he expects to lie able to keep
the aeroplane in the air 28 hours
without lauding.
W right was accompanied by his
sister, Catherine. He said he
would not try for any more records
soon but would devote his time to
perfecting the machine.
Men, nre you doing daily
Just what you ought to do?
Are you in the higher walks of life
Among the brave and true?
O, men lie up and doing,
The time has come for you to
work,
No more time for idle gossip,
N'ou should no more your duty
shirk.
Men, are you daily striving,
A nobler and better man to be,
Pointiug the way to others,
The light of Christ to see?
Are your lamps trimmed and burn-
in*,
To light others on their way?
Are your actious guide boards,
To guide others lest they stray?
Men could do what they would,
If they would do what they could.
And in doing what they would,
They should do what they should.
Go win the world for Christ,
Tell of that higher love,
How He died ou the cross of Cal
vary,
And ascended to his throne above.
And to every stranger within your
gates,
Grasp him gently by the hand,
Welcome him with outstretched
arms,
Enroll him in the brotherhood
band.
Always try to be a doer,
Leave not the work for a few,
Just buckle on God’s armour,
Do what your hands find to do.
Heaven is the goal to reach,
Try to lend a helping hand,
Help to make this world an Eden,
By the Christian Brotherhood
baud.
