William Baiubridge o f Creswell,
was in Eugene Tuesday for the
purpose of swearing out a warrant
for the arrest of William J. Culver
for assault and battery. The
trouble occurred at Creswell Tues
day. He alleges that Culver, with
out provocation, knocked him down,
and then jumped on his face with
his shoes, disfiguring his face very
badly. A few dayB ago Mrs. Bain-
bridge sued her hustiand for a di
vorce and Baiubridge accuses Cul
ver of causing the trouble between
them. The warrant was issued out
o f Justice of the Peace Bryson’s
couit later in the day and served
upon Culver at Springfield by Con
stable Plank. He came over and
pleaded guilty and was fined $50
and costs, which he paid.
Thomas R. Parker filed three
mining locations Monday as follows;
The "B ear,” "M oose” and "N or
man” claims, all in the Bohemia
mining district.
Drew Griffin, who for years has
been associated with the Griffin
Hardware company, and is well
and favorably known throughout
the county, yielding to request of
friends, will be a candidate at the
primaries for sheriff ou the repub
lican ticket.
Hiram Griggs and wife ot Cot
tage Grove have moved to Eugene
to become permanent residents.
Their household effects have ar
rived and as soon as they get
settled Mr. Griggs will take a po
sition with the Willamette Valley
company in the electrical plant in
Eugene and vicinity.
While the tax rolls for the pay
ment o f 1007 taxes opened Monday
owing to the prompt respoose to
the notices seot out several thous
and dollars were taken iD on taxes
Saturday. J. M. Stafford, to whom
the first receipt has been issued for
the past eleven years was again the
first to get his receipt and it called
for over $128. The big day, how
ever, was Monday. The three per
cent rebate which is offered to per
sons who pay up, to March 15, is a
great incentive and gets taxes in
very quickly. It is an indication of
good times and prosperity when
people try to get ahead of each
other to pay their taxes.
There will be a monster mass
meeting o f L ine county republicans
at the court house Saturday, Feb
ruary 20 , lieginnnig.it 10 :.‘t 0 o'clock
for a full and free discussion ol all
matters pertaining to the forthcom
ing political campaign in H ub coun
ty. This meetiug is put far enough
ahead so tliut republicans from all
parts o f the county can lie present
and the hour is set for 10.30 a. fu.
so tlmt business can be transacted
in time for those from a distance to
retnr^i home the same day. All
members of the county central com
mittee as chosen at the election two
years ago or appointed in their re
spcctive precincts are urged to at
tend.

Mrs. Virginia Prot/.nmn, living on
Perkins avenue, Cottage (¡rove, Ore
gon. says: " I suffered lor a long time
with kidney and bladder disorders
and my condition finally tiecame so
bad that I had to go to lied and my
life was aetuull.v despaired of. I
doctored and used many remedies
without getting the slightest relief.
Cutting pains through my back kept
mein ugon.v and I was so weak and
lame across the small of my baek that
I could hardly liear the weight ot my
clothing. I suffered with severe
headaches and was caused a great
deal of annoyance on uccount of the
irregularity of the secretions. I was
laid up In bed for nearly two months.
I began uiing Dunn’s Kidney Pills
which I procured at Benson’s' Phar

contents of the first box 1 noticed an
improvement In my condition. As I
continued the remedy I grew stronger
and stronger and when I had used
the contents of five boxes 1 was al
most free from the trouble. When I
finished the sixth box I was III better
health than I ever hoped to be.
Doan's Kidney pills effected a com

my life. I heartily recommend this
remedy to kidney sufferers."
