VETERANS REUNION.
Will be Held in Eugene September
1 8 .1 9 and 20.
The Lane county veterans will
meet in annual reunion at Eugene
on Wednesday, Thursday and Fri
day, September 18, 19 and 20.
This association embraces veterans
o f all wars who have fought in de
fense of their country, and all of
them are cordially invited to par
ticipate in the reunion.
Many
veterans are getting on in years,
and can hope but for a few more of
these reunions.
Those in charge
of the reunions are aDxioits for as
many as possible of the veterans to
remember the present opportunity
once more to touch elbows and
clasp the hand in friendship as in
the times that have passed.
Tbe procram for tbe reunion is
as follows:
Wednesday. September 18, tbe
books for registration of comrades
will be opened at Grand Army ball.
All comrades are requested to reg
ister name, company and regiment,
and receive a badge.
Wednesday evening at 7 :30 a
camp-fire will be held at the O. A.
R. hall. Speeches, recitations and
musical numbers will be on the pro
gram for tbe evening.
Thursday, September 18 , at io a.
m. the line for the parade will form
on Willamette street in front of the
G. A. R. ball, and make a small
march. The Spanish War veterans
and the Sons of Veterans are espec
ially invited to join in the parade.
At 12 o ’clock, nooti, u dinner to
all will be served in the G. A . R.
hall.
Thursday evening at the court
house an ¡address will be delivered
by S. D. Allen, to which the public
is cordially invited. Music, recita
tions and short speeches will make
up the rest of tbe evening’s pro
gram.

Judge Waldo Dead.
Salem, O r., Sept. 3. -Judge John
B. Waldo, jurist, legislator and far
mer, died at bis home in the Waldo
Hills last night after an illness of
two weeks. He had been in his
usual health until the iniddl" uf
last month when he went on a trip
through tbe Cascade mountains. It
is supposed that while riding horse
back he suffered internal injuries
which resulted in bis death.
John Breckenridge Waldo was a
son o f Daniel Waldo a*d was born
on the old homestead, October 6 ,
1 844. He received such common
school education aa tho pioneer
schools afforded and continued his
studies in Willamette University,
graduating from that institution in
i 8 (> 6 . He was admitted to the bar
in 1870 and was elected to the Su
preme Bench in 188 O.
