Wednesday, Sept. 25, 1907 The 1907 state fair is a thing of the past, and it proved to be the moat successful from every point of view in the history ot Oregon. Din ing the whole time there has been no serious complaints and not one word of auverse criticism has been heard from pres or public. Every one seemed pleased and satisfied, and we may look for a greatsr ex position next year. The vast im provements in buildings and grounds, and the better accommo dations was highly appreciated both by visitors and exhibitors, and the fair management is highly praised for ita excellent work. Saturday, the last day, proved a most suc cessful wiud-up. There was a large attendance and the visitors were treated to a splendid program. A DOUBLE RLOTTION Given at the Christian Church on Monday Night. On Monday night the hrc audi torium of the Christian church was filled by an audience assembled for a double purpose; to give Kov. Olson and wife a farewell reception and a welcome to his successor Kev and Mrs. W. A. lvlkins. lvcv. Olson leaves on Thursday for Kugene, where he enters the Divinity school to complete his course. Kev. Olson has been in chargo of the Christian church ol" this place for the past two years and has gained the love and respect of not only the members of the church, but of nil with whom ho has come in contact in a business or social way. He Ins been a hard and enthusiastic worker and fiom the repoit given Monday night by Dr. Macy, lias largely added to the church in property and membership by his inde fatiguable energy. The citizens of the great Harney country have made an urgent ap peal to the people of all parts of the state to make a special effort to visit Burns, October 8th to 12lb, when their fair is in session, and see the products of Oregon's big gest county. Artesian water has been found at a depth of less than three hundred feet in Harney Val ley and the people are rejoioing1 The Oregon State Fair at Salem last week was a record breaker in point of attendance, and the speed contests were the best in the his tory of the fair and aroused even more enthusiasm than when pools were sold. The twelve new sfables which housed the splendid live stock exhibit were visited by many thousands, there being as many la dies as men present. The displays of products of the soil were up to those in quality shown at the Lewis & Clark Exposition, and the crowd was admirably handled. Important to Cruisers.
