The Klection on Monday passed 5i off very quietly in Cottage Grove. ! what little interest was shown was 3 1 over the office for Sheriff and the s3 1 Local Option question. s Is was apparent ttom tlie tirst that all the efforts of the democrats would be concentrated on their nominee for Sheriff Kisks pepti ze larity gained from n long residence :5 in the County and his record since :S i his appointment as Sheriff made sS ' him a formidable candidate. This "ZZ j together with the special effort 5i made for him all over the county, 1 elected him by a large majority. :S It is probably Stiles rau as well as ' any one who might have been nominated. ! The balance of the republican ticket came out ahead. Our candidate for Representative 'I, H. Bingham, may well leel proud of the vote he received. Local Option seems to have been carried by a fair majority. Our Motto: Good Goods for Low Prices. General Merchandise, Miners' Tools and Ammunition BOHEMIA, OREGON. MEDLEY & MILNE Cor 2nd and Main Sts. Cottage Grove, Ore. Good Results Obtained. The results of the winter's work in Bohemia have beeu very satis factorv. As was suggested in the NuEcet early last winter when the snow compelled all out side work to be suspended, it would cause those who remained in the district to do all their work under ground. This was the case and we have yet to learn of an instance where great improvement was not the result where any considerable work was done. The Crystal Consolidated, Vesuvius, Oregon Securities.River side, Sunset, Oregon-Colorado, Champion Basin, North Fairveiw and several others are examples. The season has just fairly opened and many owners of properties are beginning work on their properties. This promises to be the best season in the history of Bohemia. An English professor of geology savs that he once received a call from a man who was at the head of a large commercial enterprise. He wished to consult the proiessor about the instruction of his son, who would ultimately inherit his vast business and wealth. "But, mind you," said he, "I don't him to learn about stratums or want or faults or unheavals or denudations, and I don't want Iiim to fill bis mind with fossils or stuff about crystals. What I want him to learn is how to find gold and silver and cepper in paying quanti ties, sir, in paying quantities," Unfortunately for such people, the preparation for no business in life can be kent down tn such severely practical limitations.
