Ontnt llakcr City, Ore., an or ganization hits been effected to lie known as tlte Uakcr City Miners' Association. At the organization meeting held recently a story was told of the visit of on Oregon min ing man to Vale college. While looking over the specimens in the geological department the vi itor found a specimen of gold bearing the label' "From Gold hill, Oregon. Suite of California." It was also stated at the meeting that Oregon is credited with a portion of the pro duction made by California mines. The new organisation will work ior the advancement of Oregon's mining imhistiy, and also sec to it that the knocker is suppressed. Here's luck to the liaker City Miners' Association! lku.ts and Mortgages. The mine owners of Uohcmia Mining District perfected n Mine Owners' Association last October with Andrtw Urutid as president, and Al Churchill, secretary. There are many good reasons why the owners of mining prop erties should have an association of this character, and the Nugget suggests that every mining district, no matter how small, for it will grow, organize a -Mine Owners' Association. In the first place it will afford an opportunity for thrm to become better acquainted bv calling a meet ing occasionally. Matters ot importance can be brought before it, and discussed and by united action something ac complished, which when left to in dividual effort would fail. No dis trict can afford to have false and exaggerated statements made con cerning it and when it is known that an association is ready to pro tect its interests they will not be so apt to be made. The matter of unwarranted jumping of claims, frequently caus ing an honest miner trouble and ex pense, caii be largely controlled by united action. The questions aris ing between the district and county, such as roads, etc. can be better ar ranged when presented as the action of the whole district. In matters of mining legislation, I with an organization in every campand they workingin harmony, much can be accomplished. And they can knock the "knocker" if any be found. UTAH'S GOOD SHOWING. The TJeseret News of Salt Lake City in its Christmas edition makes a very cheerful estimate of the pro duction of metals in the State of Utah for 1903. It places the total production at $34,000,000. giving gold $4,000, 000, silver $20,000,000, lead $5, 000,000 and copper $5 000,000 It further estimates the amount of dividends paid by the mining stock companies only, at $4,769,016. These miues Irom where this wealth was produced, were but prospects not many years ago. Oregon has many such prospects which need development. NOTICE FOB PUBLICATION.
