the editorship to Mr. Lee V. Henry

who has successfully presided over
the business office during tue in

.When a man has served nearly
half n life time in any one chosen
field, it certainly is with some de
gree of sadness and not infrequently
wjth a feeling of cmotiou that he
severs his connections, and parts
from the vocation to which he is
bound by the strongest ties.
'Such is the case at hand. The
writer came to Cottage Grove
when the prospects were not so
bright as they are today, and by
ernest effort, no small amount
of work and a strong faith in the
future possibilities of this com
munity, a paper was founded which
has grown into considerable in'
fluence, enjoying a local drcuk'
tion exceedingly .gratifying, while
its foreign circulation is not sur
passed bv anv paper in the countv.
by reason of its columns devoted to
mining interests.
The paper has been royally sup
parted by Cottage Grove and Bo
hemia, and in this support the ap
preciation of the poor efforts of the
founders and owners, by the patrons,
is in evidence. In view of this
patronage which has, in most part,
come unsolicited, other than by
persistent effort and a desire to
please as well as to improve the f 1
facilities of the plant, the outgoing
editor is grateful toward those who
have stood by and staunchly aided
and supported him by patronage
and kind advice advice given in
the right way is always beneficial
shall ever have his heartfelt thanks
and tender memories.
The future destiny of the paper
will be guided by Lee W. Henry,
the junior editor of the old firm,
who has had many years experience
in newspaper work from the press
room to the editorial staff; a thor
ough gentleman, well informed, a
pleasant, agreeable, manly man;
and he who steps down and out,
by reason of pressure of other
business afiairs, divorces himself
from a business founded before the
sand upon which the framework
was laid turned to granite, feels
that the paper could not fall into
better bands, and that under the
new management and editorial
ability of Mr. Henry, it will grow
as it has in,the past, in proportion,
if not in advance of the town in
which it is published.
Extending sincere thanks for the
many kind acts administered, and
wishing the patrons of the paper
unbounded success; Cottage Grove
a thrifty and rapid growth; extend
ing a hearty hand-grasp to every
miner in Bohemia, I bid you,
good-bye.

week the Idaho republicans dc

tariff for the regulation of trusts
also an amendment to the consti
tution for the suppression of the
same. Their faith in President
Roosevelt is demonstrated by the
following plank from their plat-

dent Roosevelt our party has found
a worthy leader, whose fearlessness
in the discharge of his duty, ami
whose devotion to the best interests
of the whole country prove him to
be a worthy successor to hi la

President Roosevelt its hearty sup
port."
The Nugget's new editor and
proprietor has been in Oregon but
a short tune and in this city only
since April 15, hence advice, in
formation aud news items from
friends of the paper will be fully
appreciated. The omcc is now
located within twentv feet of the
postofEcc and there, is no possible
excuse for not calling.
There is a feeling of loyalty to
to each other and the city in
general, among the professional
and business men of Cottage Grove
that is indeed commetidable. "Pat'
ronue home industry ' and every-
bedy thrive. Stand together and
"Stand up for Cottage Grove."
Our job department has been
crowded with rush orders for the
past two months and some of our
patrons have been obliged to wait
for their work. We expect to get
"caught up this week after which
all work can be got out promptlv
Everybody seems to be prosper
ous and happy in this little city
at present and its growth and de
velopment has but commenced. In
the next two or three years our
growth will certainly be phenomi-nal.

Politically, the paper will be as
it has been, republican, fair, faith

voted largely to "Mines and Min

great Bohemia Mining District and

Grove," "the biggest town of its
