this is a fright, but the Journal
could have just as well broadened
out a little without detracting in
the least from Josephine county.

How pleasant it must be for a
man to make an honest 30 mile
race to secure a choice claim as did
many on the Ft. Hall Indian reser
vation recently only to find a
"sooner" there ahead of him.
The grass and weeds growing in
the streets and along the sidewalks
of tlie principal streets of Cottage
Grove- does not add to the city's
appearance, aud should be cut
down.
There are a dumber of bad sidc
valks in this city. They should
be looked after by the proper com
tnlttce and repaired.
